I’m hanging up my angel wings for the year with my last Halloween event, the Billings Halloween party. It was great to get together with friends and see the neighborhood kids. I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!
ICYMI: Our soup-er fun fall fundraiser was Oct. 23, a soup & chili cookoff. The winners were Mike Parry’s white chicken chili #2 and Chris Wittman’s kielbasa kale soup. If you want the winning recipes for yourself, donate any amount here and we’ll send it to you!

I had an incredible time at Maple Grove Fire Station 2 greeting trick or treaters tonight. This is the fire department’s first year organizing the event. We estimate over 500 people came into the fire station. Be safe tonight and have fun!
Thank you to our nonprofits and volunteers who are working so hard to meet the needs in the community. Or, if you want to donate, please visit their websites for info:

A half a million Minnesotans could lose SNAP food benefits Nov. 1. Help is available at your local food shelf. Residents in district 37 are served by Cross Services, CEAP, IOCP and WeCAN - Western Communities Action Network.
I am so honored, but also very aware of the work ahead to care for our state and nation's veterans who sacrificed so much in defense of our freedom.
The article highlights two recent ones, Bill's Wish Spotlight A Soldier Award and the MACVSO President's Award, as well as gives a brief review of my legislative accomplishments for veterans.
On National First Responders Day, we share our gratitude for all the dedicated people who work so hard to keep our communities safe. From 911 dispatch, to emergency medical staff, to police, fire, and all supporting staff. THANK YOU!
Chip and I tried Grackle tonight, a locally owned restaurant in Maple Grove. They source local ingredients and cook from scratch. Plenty of gluten free options, and several mocktails available!

Food insecurity support for veterans in Hennepin and Ramsey passed the legislature in 2023. This year, I worked on a bill for the rest of MN. HF 2773 / SF 1893 added $300,000 in state funding through LSS CORE. I was proud this bill passed as part of the bicameral veterans omnibus bill.
While state and local governments scramble to figure out what to do with stoppage of SNAP benefits Nov. 1 due to the federal govt shutdown, I want MN veterans to know you have options. Veterans in MN can apply for a meal program through their county veterans service officer.
Maple Grove city trunk or treat and a few more from Magnus!
I am at Magnus Veterans Foundation today for the trunk or treat. We have a demon hunters themed trunk. The kiddos love it! #demonhunters #angel #halloween #magnusveteransfoundation
We ate at the Choo Choo before. I had the rib and wings basket. I love our smaller towns in the western part of the district because they are a lot like the towns I hail from in ND.
My mom and I went to the Haunted House on Railway Street in Loretto tonight. St Peter and Paul Parish Center hosts this haunted house every year. Open tonight until 10 pm and tomorrow 6-10 pm, $10 per person admission.
As someone who worked for Target HQ twice, for 8 years total, and lived through one of these layoffs in 2015, I am holding all HQ employees in my thoughts and prayers for what is to come next week.

Kristin and Kristy. The two have been friends since Kristy moved to Maple Grove eight years ago. They are door knocking buddies and close friends outside of campaigning. See them in action at their fall fundraiser!

We’d sing out loud to country tunes in the car, like Brokenheartsville. “Here’s to the past, it can kiss my glass.” Ah, Rick. You are missed! I told one of my employees once, this work costs you. It does. But it’s worth it. Every. Single. Day.
Rick’s paver has been installed at the Maple Grove veterans monument. He was a new resident of the city, and I was his veteran advocate. Sadly, he passed away January of this year. I worked with him for months and went many places with Rick in pursuit of his benefits and housing.
