I have the 8-element collapsible and love it. Sharp, tiny, light, seems very well made. It's got "old lens" ergonomics: the front elent and aperture ring turn with focus, and it's fiddly to set. Sadly won't collapse on a Canon P. The hood sucks, a clamp-on Summaron hood is better.

Nikon still does this with DSLR grips, and was doing it in the 70s: To attach the F2's motor drive (MD-1/MD-2) the open/close key on the bottom of camera has to be removed. There's a threaded hole on the back of the grip to store the key. The coupling allowed the drive to rewind film quickly.
