They don’t wish to build power, they simply wish to constantly critique the powerless.

I’m convinced at this point that the biggest weakness left wing activist culture has is an obsession with gatekeeping. You show up to fight authoritarianism and immediately get a lecture on exactly what you need to do and think to be tolerated by the leadership.

I think the point is not that it’s legitimate to shame her for having sex, it’s legitimate to shame her for professional misconduct and unreasonable to equate that criticism with slut-shaming.
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
I see what you’re saying but I think Rev is using the term “slut-shaming” because that is the framing of those he’s criticizing.

I’m always hesitant to think conspiratorially about bad posts because the world contains diverse multitudes of earnest dipshits, cranks, and bastards, but it sure is interesting that the guys so obsessed with defending Ben Gvir here so prominently call themselves anti-fascists.
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
Among other things, that is very much not what “projecting” means.

310 seats was a bit overenthusiastic but who exactly said they were gonna win an impeachment-capable majority?
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
Maybe it’s recency bias but there are so many profile pics of people in masks in the replies there. I think it’s brigading basically.
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
It’s not turning it around on you to circle back to the original point of the discussion.
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
By the way, this is just another pivot.
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
What if we shouted at you? Could that make your opinions worse?
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
So then you should probably consider that you were projecting before you try to pivot, no?
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
It’s actually not so much that the post is angry as that it upset a lot of people—perhaps including you?

Do you see the distinction?
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
Y’know, this is pretty much exactly what I would’ve said an hour ago before I read the replies to this post.

This is the same problem with trying to find a compromise on “comprehensive immigration reform.” If Real America TM is pissed off because “they’re eating the cats and the dogs” what’s the compromise? We agree to deport the 0 people who do that?”

We all know she’s going to hit him for being “inexperience.” But it was the decisions of Dems most experienced leaders that brought us here. There’s a balance to be struck to be sure, but broadly speaking youth is preferable to experience moving forward.

But now I genuinely think that the failure of the Democratic old guard to pass the torch with grace is substantially relevant to the current crisis. And I absolutely include Bernie in that. Mills’ age should be discussed directly as part of the primary fight.
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
You may be referring to a discourse I’m not familiar with, but I don’t agree with the implicit distinction. Before Ginsburg and Biden I probably would have thought of candidate age as separate from the questions of policy substance I would prefer to fight campaigns over.

If you can’t handle our culture at its worst, you don’t deserve it at its best.

Obviously people have been living in deserts for a long time. This doesn’t mean carrying capacity is not a thing.
kn1feysp00ney.bsky.social
I think it’s bad that Democrats keep nominating candidates who are extremely old (including my ideological allies like Bernie) and I think it’s a perfectly legitimate criticism in the wake of the 2024 debacle.
