Work on the Takao has begun. Lower hull mostly done and painted up, torpedoes made up ready for paint and then onwards to the superstructure. Lots of PE and resin ahead 🫠 For the colours I use mr color IJN type 21 and IJN type 22 (c604 and c605) camouflage.

I'm not much of a ship folk (yet), these three VF + one trumpeter kit is all I got and all bought in the past three months or so. The quality of the molds and interesting paint schemes pulled me over the line. I hope I can complete them to a good level.

Yeah definitely a case of painting them on the base as much as possible and only removing them for final assembly on the kit. Lovely bit of printing though 🤩

I was rather impressed by Very Fire's Takao. Now, I am even more so. Their Missouri kit came out before 3d printing was ready. So they went back to their old kit and replaced all the oerlikons, Bofors and all other resin cast parts with brand new designed and printed parts. #histscalemodels

Only after the main paint was applied but yeah weathering and decals and stuff all left handed. Not too bad I suppose.

Broke my collarbone mid build so couldn't use my right hand much. Will be all ok though!

Yeah they put a plate with 8 screws in me.. again I am lucky no head injury and somewhat ambidextrous. Still, can't use my right arm for typing or the mouse yet. Recovery is going as planned though, first two weeks after this sort of surgery you just have to let it rest a lot.

I managed to finish this up with my left hand (kinda ambidextrous). Not my magnum opus perhaps but I like the variation in the OD. So that's the #HeaviesGB finished for me.

The b-17 and all other things will be on hold for the foreseeable future. I broke my collarbone pretty badly and they want to operate on it. That should get me back good as new but it's my right arm so I'll be off the bench for a while. #heaviesGB

Sounds like a similar situation then, where it is not a technical requirement per se. I imagine if those library maintainers would stop Valve would suddenly be able to go to 64-bit on linux rather quickly 😅

I guess it technically doesn't need it, since its not much more than a web-app, but it just uses libraries etc that only come in / are maintained for the 64-bit version of windows. Is there any need for it on linux?

Beautiful printed engines by art scale for that little bit of extra pop when you look. The kit engines are a major weak spot I think, we can do better than this with injection molding. #HeaviesGB
