The wig of Merit and the Wig Rings of Sithathornyunet!

The wig was found in a tomb dating to the late 18th dynasty, and genuinely looks EXACTLY like how Chaos described AE Alastor’s hair. And while the golden beads are from the Middle Kingdom there is still a precedent for them in art later on.

Moving on from Lilith—

Alastor’s AE looks had me going down a rabbit hole- specifically looking at his hairstyle. Chaos had a specific look in mind, and I wanted to see if it was any evidence for such hairstyles in the New Kingdom.

We were DELIGHTED by my finds XD

A VERY FASCINATING INSPIRATION FOR LILITH!

As for her general rule and accomplishment, they were often taken from Ramses II, where her reign is technically set as well. Fighting the Hittites, making peace, the Nubian campaigns etc.

She is explicitly mentioned there as the *daughter* of the previous pharaoh, Thutmose I. Most imagery of Hatshepsut depicts her in traditionally male regalia. But it’s only male in the sense that it’s specific to a Pharaoh, who is traditionally male.

She never hid her true gender.

How she was almost scrubbed from history by her successor is taken straight from Hatshepsut’s life. As is the inscription Lucifer finds in her temple, where she calls herself a “daughter”.

This is an actual inscription by Hatshepsut at the temple of Karnak.

We ended up picking Ramses II and his rule to use as a base for Lilith’s accomplishments, partially because he was more of a warrior Pharaoh, which fit the narrative of the story better.

Still, we used Hatshepsut’s rule and her struggle as a woman pharaoh to depict Lilith’s troubles.

Two historical figures were of particular interest here: The Female Pharaoh Hatshepsut (18th dynasty) and Ramses II, aka Ramses the Great (19th dynasty).

Both are famous for their incredible accomplishments, and left behind great legacies.

It’s by far one of the more well studied parts of Ancient Egyptian history, and also what most people think of when AE is mentioned. Lost of famous pharaohs came from those dynasties, and they are all famously buried in the Valley of the Kings.

First thing for us to nail down was when this story was taking place. Both Chaos and I agreed that we wanted Lilith/Irimaet to be a warrior Pharaoh, with lots of accomplishments to her name.

I suggested we place the timeline somewhere in the New Kingdom period.
