See, I believe there are sites on the World Wide Web that do have showtimes, presumably sourced via an API. Wouldn't it be great if there was a tool, a 'search engine', say, that might point you to such a site, ideally with a high ranking?
It's just doing its bit to thin the herd a little. Skynet wasn't built in a day.

Look at the positives: your friends have a) thought of you and b) your area of expertise. I don't think there's an inherent assumption that the paper is better informed than you (maybe their wording was unfortunate) But it's nice to know when sth related to your interests is causing ripples, anyway.
