San Diego 🎶 Sometimes I just want to read Donald Duck and be in silence. But then birds natter outside my window while rain patters on the roof. 🎶 - Maustetytöt (🇫🇮 for “Spice Girls”) “Mä loistan kuin hämärä” (“I Shine Like the Twilight”)

Because someone can be a Muslim without being an outsider.

Because others (e.g. Sikhs) might be left alone unless perceived as Muslim.

Because religions far more “alien” to Judeo-Christian traditions are tolerated more than Islam, or are not judged by their extremes like Islam is.
Like studies that show anti-Islamic/Arab sentiment on the right often correlates to anti-Semitic sentiment as well, I suspect there would be a lot of overlap on the left between how someone views the American South and how someone views the Islamic/Arabic worlds.
Your comment seems to highlight the need for the separate “Islamophobia“ label.

Not every brown and/or foreign person is expected to define their relationship to “some of the barbarism of Islamic scripture.”
I’m *almost* to the point with MAGA antics and buffoonery where I will assume I’m about to watch something that will work with the Benny Hill Theme.
Who robbed the Louvre? Right answers only
Love the “you’re gonna put this on the internet, aren’t you” look!

Mine gave me that look when I took this after she sloppily and nervously ate peanut butter at the vet’s…
Looks more like a special run of some bland-yet-weird Minnesota snack in tribute to Al Franken.

Cue Rose Nyland reminiscing about the fresh mayonnaise filling her mother used for cakes to celebrate the state’s congressional delegation.
Front page of the main San Diego paper, with articles covering multiple protests throughout San Diego County, including the small protest at the main gate of Camp Pendleton (where Vance and Hegseth went to bathe in testosterone).
#NoKings
The math maths here in San Diego (or I guess the rest of the world would say the maths math).
All that hard work he put into earning them. He gave his sweat glands for queen and country! Such a shame. /s
Not necessarily. I wouldn’t be able to quantify, but I’d guess a significant portion of CDC work:
-would not fall under the relevant regulations, or
-would not be high-risk enough to require substantive review, or
-is conducted in partnership with (or through awards to) entities with IRBs.
This sounds like you’re contributing lyrics to a new Ween song
Around Pendleton is all I’ve heard so far. Vance did a mini version of this for the last No Kings day. He visited Pendleton, but there were just brief rolling closures around Oceanside for his motorcade.
Just for visual context, because there’s some wild comments here…
Yup, I’m not concerned. But whether or not they actually fire anything, I imagine they’ll still use the excuse to jam up the traffic, in the weird hope that pissed off drivers would associate the traffic with the protests.
Just as an example, I’m going from Oceanside to the main LA protest with friends, to meet up with other friends.

Fortunately I already planned to take the train.
I’m going from Oceanside to the main LA protest (and am not the only one).

Fortunately I was already planning to take the train, which has the bonus of being a middle finger to the regime.
Yes, but adding a couple of extra hours
Desolate only in the sense that Camp Pendleton interrupts the urban corridor. But the 5 at that point is both high traffic volume AND a chokepoint with no alternate routes.
Her warning is about the part of the 5 that’s a choke point between San Diego County and Orange County.
That’s exactly the thought behind the post you stupidly mocked as stupid.
Sounds like these people really really liked “Veep” and saw it as a guide to life without realizing that the characters were deeply shitty people.
The Regime still manages to surprise: who knew that Russell Vought had D’Angelo in his sights?
You make him sound like the original modern American. Especially your last line! He would fit right in.

The idea that the Western Hemisphere was the US sphere of influence started pretty early on, so Columbus was probably a natural icon.
