Because someone can be a Muslim without being an outsider.

Because others (e.g. Sikhs) might be left alone unless perceived as Muslim.

Because religions far more “alien” to Judeo-Christian traditions are tolerated more than Islam, or are not judged by their extremes like Islam is.

Like studies that show anti-Islamic/Arab sentiment on the right often correlates to anti-Semitic sentiment as well, I suspect there would be a lot of overlap on the left between how someone views the American South and how someone views the Islamic/Arabic worlds.

Not every brown and/or foreign person is expected to define their relationship to “some of the barbarism of Islamic scripture.”

Not necessarily. I wouldn’t be able to quantify, but I’d guess a significant portion of CDC work:
-would not fall under the relevant regulations, or
-would not be high-risk enough to require substantive review, or
-is conducted in partnership with (or through awards to) entities with IRBs.

Around Pendleton is all I’ve heard so far. Vance did a mini version of this for the last No Kings day. He visited Pendleton, but there were just brief rolling closures around Oceanside for his motorcade.

Yup, I’m not concerned. But whether or not they actually fire anything, I imagine they’ll still use the excuse to jam up the traffic, in the weird hope that pissed off drivers would associate the traffic with the protests.
