I read “Behave” and “Determined” from the library does that count. Maybe I will read again after the lectures. I am enjoying the lectures immensely so far.
I will take it into consideration in my exploration into an explanation
Supposedly Native Americans called these sunroots. Its also referred to as an earth apple, sunchoke and a Jerusalem artichoke. few years ago if you said any of these names I would have no clue what you where talking about, but today we have them all. The bees don't care what we call it. 🌱 #gardening

I am an insatiable autodidact, I am always learning something new, currently I am listening to lectures on human behavioral biology by Robert Sapolsky (excellent so far). This is the introduction if you are interested youtu.be/g26stRqDrKE?...

The flowers are scratching an itch I didn't know I had. The results are undeniable for fruit n veg. It doesn't hurt with all the wildlife it brings to the yard. A book that changed the whole gender dynamics of gardening for me was “Founding Gardeners” about US founding fathers obsession with gardens
It shows both sides of human nature. I like how Robin Wall Kimmerer expresses a respectful relationship with nature in the practice of the “honorable harvest” makes me feel a little less brutal for my desires of food and stimulation.
I run at night so I encounter night time wild life often. Hopefully this technique will serve me well. I bet this whole time I have been running past not noticing them and all is well. Its when I do notice them and instinctively look, that I scare the crap out of both of us.
I only looked at them with my peripheral vision and guess what, when I started to run they didn't budge. They acted like you do you and we will do us. My heart has never pounded so hard resting from a jog. 3/3

I couldn't have been more than ten feet away where I stopped to rest. I was sure they would bolt. I tried to make it as if I didn't know they where there and it worked. I knew when I started to run again they would take off but 2/3
I was reading a book called “Eavesdropping On Animals” and in it, it was emphasized how looking directly at animals can be taken as a threat and its better to use peripheral vision for observation. I had my first opportunity while jogging. I ran up on a doe and two fawns by accident 1/3
Does anybody know what this is? I took this picture in early September in zone 7a, still haven't figured it out yet. If you look close the Zinnia has what my best guess would be, is little piles of eggs of some insect. The plants seemed to do fine, I'm just curious. 🌱 #gardening

Both from surrounding counties (Sullivan, Orange and Rockland) of Westchester. It is interesting people who say two syllables seem to hold on to that diphthong part a bit longer. I am going to poll some people from surrounding area and see If anything interesting develops.
I say 1 syllable, wife says 2, both from Ny but different parts. I did learn a new word that helps explain the conundrum. A diphthong is a sound formed by the combination of two vowels in a single syllable, in which the sound begins as one vowel and moves toward another. now she calls me diphthong

A places near us has a trail with big meadow, it's really nice, but when the train came through, I was so shaken, I could not get a picture of it. I had a bad experience with a train, a long time ago and now when ever I'm near one, I get final destination vibes, It being that high up did not help.

Would you look at that! This is one of the places crown vetch was taking over, I have been removing it when I see it and then the aster's said “mine”. If I'm correct one is big leaf aster and the other is Blue wood Aster. 🌱 #Gardening

I had to look up what bilbies are. Sometimes when I read about evolutionary biology Australia comes up because of the adaptation of the marsupials there. I would imagine the soil biology is also very different. Do you use microscope for analysis?
We bee having more pollinators than any year prior. Last year I had no zinnia, I didn't even know what they were. This year I must have almost a hundred. I will continue to grow them but I have all types of new flowers in store for next year. I am more a veg and fruit grower but...🌱 #gardening

I agree it is interesting and I do adopt names if easier to remember or more fitting but when its called a lily and not one like the Hosta or called a grape hyacinth and its nether it confuses some one new to understanding like me. I'm sure my discomfort will dissipate with time and learning.
