DST is why most Americans wake by alarm in darkness. Permanent Standard Time would let us sleep longer and awaken naturally to sunlight, for health!

The US flag had 40 stars for a very brief period from November 2 to November 8, 1889, when North and South Dakota became the 39th and 40th states. However, this was not an official national flag because the government added stars on July 4th of the following year when 5 states had been added.
