Let me toss this one past you:

'Shipyard': A piece of escapism primarily designed or utilized as a springboard for relationship-oriented fanfiction, aka 'shipping'.

Too on the nose?
Never really played the first two, and after several years of hearing what people love so much about 3 I'm comfortable skipping it.

So is it wall-to-wall squick from character creation or does it ease you into the shipyard slowly?

And yes, I'm calling that genre of game 'shipyards' now.
And even with a freezer full of meals that's still warming and adulterating, etc.

Assuming that one wants a variety of flavors.
Not to mention the freedom to fail.. to make mistakes and ruin food in the process of learning how to do all those things safely.. even if you've got cookbooks, cooking videos, and FoodTok, learning means failing.. and spending time and energy that may not be easily spent.
Not to mention those folks living on reservations.. even with commods it's a challenge.
Yes, that's certainly the ideal, but we've got one or two lost generations here as regards the sort of day-by-day instruction that makes jarring and canning and meal prep instinctive.. less 'one more task in a day already overfull of must-dos' and more 'background activity while I unwind.'
We created a gulf when we eliminated thirdspaces and built curated universes for people to inhabit without interaction.
That's the best approach.. get them observing and helping ASAP, so you never have to buy "Help, My Apartment Has A Kitchen!".

Even if they hate doing it they'll know what the process looks like.
Congratulations on successfully navigating the Stygian labyrinth that is sports viewing.. almost like every game is on its own streaming service.
Longer commutes, more stress in general, and wage stagnation, so even if you've got two wage-earners in the household you may not be afloat.

Not to mention those folks looking to turn public schools into state-funded segregation academies.. they don't have much interest in Home Ec.
Killing Others and taking their stuff?

I'll take sports over that any day of the week.

Even American football, if it comes down to it.
Finally watched Novocaine.

Amber Midthunder and name-dropping Mother Mayo?

I may have to purchase this one.
Home economics appears to have been a casualty of No Child Left Behind and the siren song of consumerism.
As my wife would say, naughty.
This is EXACTLY the sort of crossover of my fandoms that keeps me on Bluesky.
Wait, he's Crow?

Thought it was Crow scouts who led Custer to Greasy Grass.
"If you can't be wealthy you're less of a human being" sort of thing.

Thus the Pauper's Oath and the limits on food.
Goes against the Just World Fallacy.

Coffee is for closers and pizza is for those without sin.. and in some people's minds poverty is the most cardinal of sins.
That and/or people buy a 0.99 pizza then get 7-10 bucks worth of stuff to add to it.. pepperoni, extra cheese, a packet of lunch meat..
Nice.
Probably none too healthy, but then neither is starvation.
They don't call them food deserts for nothing.

And they're not supposed to shop.. they're supposed to go somewhere out of sight, kill some indigenous folks and do the subsistence farmer/gatherer thing on stolen land.

Or die quietly and not use resources that belong to their 'betters'.
Totinos death discs (party pizzas) are 2 bucks or so here, so I can only imagine what they're like elsewhere.
Just World Fallacy in action.
That's funny, I was just explaining to the dog (humansplaining, I know) about how humans take entirely too much interest in how the first two letters of November are 'No'.

She agreed with me, but I think she was trying to work me into giving her the chicken breast in the fridge.

Dog logic.
