Thus says the LORD of hosts:

In those days ten people from nations of every language will take hold, yes, will take hold of the cloak of every Judahite and say, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”

Extremely Renaissance for a Protestant king to invade the home city of the Pope

"I often wonder, even though the teaching of Sacred Scripture is so clear about the poor, why many people continue to think that they can safely disregard the poor."

(Pope Leo XIV)

I think that's why and how it could really take off in the west. People are picky about mass because of music and the priest/preacher. If I had a deacon, I would absolutely push him to lead the office. Who knows, maybe the new book finally coming out will do something

Also masspers and mauds sucks. We did it as a rare exception in seminary.

What I miss most about seminary is the communal recitation of the office. I found great peace in a liturgy that didn't change based on the presider. I never left the office upset about how the liturgy went. I was never surprised, it was always prayerful and focused.

We have a disordered approach to the Eucharist as well

A lady on this pilgrimage told me how pleased she was that her priest did drive thru communion during covid. I told her mass is not the obstacle we sit through to get communion, and communion outside of mass is to be exceptional, FOR THE SICK

My favorite thing about the accusation that antifa protestors are paid is that the fa protestors on January 6 *were paid for* by TPUSA. They bussed the rioters to DC!

Sean Duffy: "The No Kings protest, Maria, really frustrating. This is part of antifa, paid protesters. It begs the question who's funding it."

I'm well aware, add it to the list of things Vatican 2 said that we don't do.

I tried to teach and lead my parents in the office during covidtide while I was still a deacon, but that went over like a wet fart.

The people do not have a lot of buy in to father telling them this is so important when they've never heard of it in 70 years of being Catholic. If it were to happen, it could and should certainly be spearheaded by laity. Who CAN lead the hours.
kalanthropos.bsky.social
I get cynical when laity propose something more for father to do. And I am not gesticulating, I am speaking from experience. I know a parish that did vespers before daily evening mass, idk if they still do. A parish in Victoria does sung vespers on Sunday, little attendance.

The bishop needs to visit all his parishes, but only showing up for confirmations is not productive or helpful
kalanthropos.bsky.social
Yes, I would gladly yell at all the bishops to restore the order, if it would actually do anything. We have closed off grace in a shameful way

And honestly, traveling the diocese and doing all the parish confirmations is one of the most taxing things a good bishop does. They don't have to!
kalanthropos.bsky.social
Oh I'm simply saying the distinction is not as important as you think
kalanthropos.bsky.social
Leaving Rome because of liturgy is the most disgusting brainworm.
kalanthropos.bsky.social
Then no one comes to mass lol

Idk I would take that deal I guess
kalanthropos.bsky.social
Yeah, that's ridiculous. Put up a screen if you like, let the people listen and follow along if it's really an issue.
kalanthropos.bsky.social
The office is not really a thing for western laity outside of a few weirdos and people who discerned out of priestly or religious formation. But I repeat myself. The devotional mass and the rosary are really the main body of prayer in the west
kalanthropos.bsky.social
The biggest problem is there is not a tradition of communally praying the hours, other than maybe a community near a non-cloistered monastery or a canonry. V2 said to have parish vespers, but most people aren't even aware it's a thing. They would sooner come to a Sunday evening rosary.

The bleakest thing about this video is that all the things this guy loves about the UK are relatively cheap and easy to build. Alabama could have a better train system than England inside of 10 years if we decided that was a priority. We are a rich country that chooses to live like a poor one.

Why do I have a feeling this is the same crowd that would object to calling denial of communion to prop abortion Catholics a politicization of the Sacrament?
