Heja grabbar! Fullständigt logiskt att amerikanarna är oförskämda vid Ryder cup. För ~100 år sen fostrades idrottens publik via auktoriteter i pressen. Idag är det en golfande mobbare som agerar förebild.

Karnevalismen på Ryder cup har sin närmaste parallell i Davis cup. Där är man mera tillåtande.

"Koka Björn" eli "Karhun keitto" on aivan loistava kirja, mielestäni Mikael Niemen paras. Odotan innolla, että pääsen katsomaan tätä sarjaa. Kirsikkana kakun päällä on se, että Tyra Wingren on hyvän ystäväni tytär. Hän on täydellinen valinta rooliin.

More on Finnish bicycle music, for example on the rise and fall of figure cycling to music, will be published in a anthology on the social history of music by the end of the year. So exited that this will finally be out soon. 🎉

The march was previous ascribed to Harald Hedman, a Finnish a #composer who wrote a quite famous "velociped marsch" for Helsinki bicycle club in 1897. If you want to listen to that one too, or a fantasia that depicts a bicycle trip, links can be found here 👇

#NewMusicFriday 😉 Yesterday this horn septet was released on Youtube. It is an unpublished marsch by Finnish photographer Edward Axelsson written for Turku bicycle club 1895. The ”demo” recording was produced as a part of my research on "bicyle music" in the 1890’s.

The Research Council of Finland firmly condemns the harassment and hate speech that RCF-funded researchers have recently faced online.

This kind of targeting behaviour is highly inappropriate and dangerous. It threatens academic freedom, narrows public debate, and undermines trust in science and the people behind it.

𝗜𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲. Researchers must be able to explore, question and share knowledge openly. The RCF funds research through open competition and international peer review, and our staff work to ensure the 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 of the process.

Debate and disagreement are part of a healthy democracy. But there is a line that is crossed when the conversation turns into personal attacks or intimidation.

Recorded some nice potatosongs and -sounds at the potato festival. The italian filmcrew that has been following us around all over Europe was still in #Nauvo making a 24h recording in the guest harbour.

I am not the only one taking the ferry from Parainen to #Nauvo today. Can't even see the "Altera" ferry from where I am in the queue. Going to record some "potato sounds" at the potato festival today.

Time for the traditional micselfie (micie?) after final shift of the 24h recording & traffic count in #Nauvo. Had to finish a few mins early to make it to the 22.30 ferry to Parainen. The ferries gives the trafficscape of Nauvo a special character since cars often arrive/leave in clusters. #someco

I had to hide in the forest to get the change in sound on tape. Drivers tend to break and slow down when we show up with our gear. 🤭
