Agreed. I think there was a 15-20min spell where we definitely saw a good side. We weathered the 10min of uncertainty before that & I thought the tide had turned.

But as soon as Wells’ pen was saved, and the nature of how pathetic the pen was, you could see the players shrink and begin to hide.
The fragility of this set of players is sickening. As soon as Wells tickled that pen towards goal it was a certainty that we’d go on to lose the game.

I know players are delicate things in today’s game & mental health is properly recognized, but most of them need to be called out for being cowards.
I think most of them care (one or two who don’t!). They just can’t get out of their own way and are feeling sorry for themselves, which as professionals is a little pathetic.

Wells’ penalty was pathetic & he deserves to be made to take 25 pens every session this week as a result.
For me we need a new project in order to instill a new identity. Wilshere represents that but he’ll need to get it together quick or he’ll burn through the good will given.

Today should tell him all he needs to know. We need a bit of discipline rather than nicey nice right now.
Hard to disagree. Hopefully we’ve made the managerial change at the right time, rather than sitting on our hands and hoping that things fix themselves.

Pathetic display from some of them today. Wells can’t be starting for us for a long time. Alli needs benching & bollocking. Kal is lost.
His penalty was genuinely one of the worst I’ve seen at any level of football. Kids. Sunday league. Non league. Pro. The guy needs to be out there running shuttles on the KR pitch right now as punishment.
For 20min or so in the first half we were at it. Clark’s shot goes in and it’s a different game.

Then Wells’ pathetic penalty followed by his stupid pass cost us the goal & exposed the weak mental state of this squad.

Alli & Wells cannot be starting for us anymore. Lazy, mentally weak, don’t care.
Wells, Alli, Yates can all do one. Pathetic excuse for footballers.
Add Mansfield to this list and it feels very 09-13.

Jack’s got a LOT of work to do.
Our first XI getting outplayed by Cambridge and Stevenage within a week.

Is it 2010 again?
A week of goodwill undone by two pathetic kicks of Wells’ right foot.

Don’t want to see the old man starting for us ever again.
So I was close.

Wells up top being the difference. Need to play it on the ground if that’s going to work as he’s not a target man.

Let’s be having them!
Here’s what I’m guessing Jack is going to line up with tomorrow/today.

He supposedly played 433 with Arsenal U18 and for me, it’s the formation we should have been playing from pre season.

Solid, stay at home back four will allow Alli & Morris to “do what they enjoy” (as JW said in his presser).
Midfield has energy, experience and line breaking ability.

Front three should be the best in the league. And whilst I’d start Nordas for his hold up play (could he be the Giroud of this team?), I’m leaning Yates for JW’s actual XI tomorrow given comments in the press and club social media comms.

“It’s ok to not want to be in League One. We have to accept it, commit to it & do everything we can to get out of it. We’re ambitious & we have to work like we’re going to the next level.”

It’s this sense of direction that we’ve been crying out for. Harness the frustration rather than fight it.
Jack on how he sees football and the group 🧠
This isn’t an XI to start any time soon, but given JW’s record of working with youth, he’s got to be excited at working with the U23s currently at the club.

This is without the likes of Chigozie, Harris, Lynch, & Archer.

Midfield is light + Walters & Johnson need to prove themselves, but exciting.
Christ Makosso putting in a decent performance for the Congo tonight against an attack featuring Diaz (Real Madrid), Igamane (Lille), Ezzalzouli (Betis) and En Nesyri (Fenerbache).

Arguably caught out for their goal, but lead the line well and athletically wasn’t out of place.
Jones, Odoffin, Brown and Al Hams back on the grass for that first session.

Wells ditching international duty to be back for it too.

Speaks to something?
Not sure we want “Cum Dawg” anywhere near our club again. What a weirdo he was.
Sure, Jack’s determined demeanor and steeliness is taking the headlines. But for me the biggest indicator that we’re going up as f’cking champions is Chris Powell’s turtleneck x suit jacket fit.

This is a business fit and the man is here for business.
This is what I’m taking from it. I’ve not been this excited for a Luton game for the last 18 months.
There’s a determination there that I’m liking. The way he’s talking is that he’s going somewhere, that he’ll take this club with him, and whether those players currently on the books join him or not will be up to them.

Very Jonesian, which has surprised me but excites me.
Right! Need someone on smoke watch over The Brache tomorrow morning.
Big appointment for both him & us.

New manager interviews are full of tropes and this is no exception, but there’s something in the manner that he speaks, the problems he’s identified & the certainty of the answers that gives me the NJ feels.

Proof is in the performance, but at least I’m excited.
Jack Wilshere is our new manager 🧡
Yep. Said as much in another post. Bould I think will be crucial, if it is him.

I would have gone for a safer pair of hands but this decision has got me feeling more excited for a Luton game than I have in the last 18 months. It could burn short but at least it’s titillating.
