Tonight’s spooky cinema selection is The Creature From the Black Lagoon. And a side of SPKs
So I basically plan and execute all our homecoming week events with my Leadership students for a school of 4700. The venom with which our homecoming court candidates campaign is ridiculous—like seriously am I gonna have to just disqualify all of you?

Lololol it’s all just so terrible
I do—2 actually. Victorian vampire for work and Aunt Gladys for Halloween night and only about an hour after work to switch before our first trick or treaters show up (the daylight toddlers we call them)
Trying to get a little more into the Halloween spirit so last night’s movie was Something Wicked This Way Comes and tonight’s is Muppet Haunted Mansion
Like it or Not: another great track and I really think she means it when she says “You can love me or leave me cause I’m never gonna stop”. A strong closing to a fan favorite album…which bring us to Hard Candy, probs my least favorite and played album.
I think this goes for anyone up in front of a group. As an educator, it would certainly not bother me. Doodlers don’t either. But it is likely different for everyone—a distraction is a distraction. There’s probably more accommodating students vs adults though.
Isaac: always a skip. It’s just…like trying too hard (to do or be what, I have no idea). It feels like being lectured. There are parts that I like but as a whole—nah, skip.
I currently teach AP sem elective and I can’t imagine doing this course to replace English or dragging kids who do nothing and/or don’t want to be in school through this course.
I’m all autumn-activitied out. The last two days saw a trip to pick apples and pumpkins and two trips to wineries. I’m done for the season.
Oh gosh, I’ve listened to it a few times and am enjoying these “Madonna vault” releases. It’s very similar to other tracks on the existing album . After a few listens I don’t hate it lol
Oh wow! I didn’t know that either
How High: perfectly fine song when Madonna examines her fame and ambition and success (won’t be the last). It’s not a go-to necessarily for me on Confessions but…it’s fine.
Jump: while not nearly as big of a hit, I think this fun little bit of pop is right up there with similarly titled songs from my youth by The Pointer Sisters, Van Halen, Kris Kross, House of Pain, and Destiny’s Child
Same. It’s why I’ve been banned from several game nights
I had perfect attendance from kindergarten through 12th grade even after the night I nearly died after a sting by a yellowjacket my parents made me go to school the next day (I’m also deathly allergic to hornets and wasps)
We are about finished with Shelley’s Frankenstein. A student said to me today: do you know what would make a good drag queen name? Fran Kenstein.
Forbidden Love: the 2nd Madonna track with this title, I prefer the Bedtime Stories one but this is fine. As I prefer the tracks on either side of this one more, this is sometimes a skip for me but it’s more about liking the other songs than not particularly liking this one if that makes sense.
Let It Will Be: this is probably my favorite track on Confessions. The prominent opening “strings” reminds me of the opening string section on Papa Don’t Preach. I love the line “just watch me burn” at the 3:15 mark as the beat comes back in.
I Love New York: I loathe this song. It’s the worst on the album and probably one of her worst ever. I don’t think it fits with the album, it’s very “pick me” to me. I have seen her live shows twice in NYC and yes, it elevates her I think compared to others I’ve seen. I hate this song.
Future Lovers: I really like this song but mostly due to it being the opener of the Confessions tour mixed with I Feel Love, and I just thought it was so well done. So when this song hits, I’m reminded to listen to the better live version.
I’m a huge fan of just reading too—I like to get lost in the world of the story and not leave a trail of breadcrumbs to map my way. I wish more kids were!
