The Bible is interpreted and manipulated according to the interpreter's existing beliefs. It is dangerous in the hands of despots and oppressors, and dangerous to those that are subject to their oppression. OTOH, if beliefs are democratic, there is much there to interpret likewise. It's an anomaly.

Protesters in Grand Rapids Michigan take to the streets.
