Just looked it up and yeah what a shame. Scapped because it looked too similar to fan art too. As a fan who draws that's such a scary reason for it to have been cancelled...
I'd hope they instead would reach out and ask if they could make the fan version official.

The concept for the Rock type is that they look like Espeon statues as a form of camouflage. Perhaps they come in multiple material colors depending on where they evolve?
