This. If you can't make an informed decision based on the reviewers' comments and your own thoughtful assessment, you shouldn't be an editor.

And now the paper has finally been accepted, I just wanna say to all the editors: PLEASE stop sending papers back out to reviewers after 1 (at most 2) round! It’s a burden on the system when a decision could be made without reviewers’ approvals. It’s not the reviewers’ job to have a final say!

Please help us, #MetaScience community!

It's time to decide on a forever name for papercheck (scienceverse.github.io/papercheck/). We don't want it to be confused with papercheck.ai, and we plan to check other research artifacts like repo contents, data, code, and prereg. Any suggestions?

Dear PsyArXiv users!
The OSF platform, which hosts PsyArXiv, has updated the PsyArXiv user interface! Unfortunately, some key moderation functions need repairs after the upgrade. This will delay some moderation decisions this week. 🔧

Thank you for your patience!

It has been an amazing experience to be President of @improvingpsych.org for the past year. There aren't many societies that would engage early career researchers in leadership, but SIPS is very special 🧡✨

Friendly reminder for those submitting manuscripts to PsyArXiv!

Upon submission, moderators will check the preprint (i.e., the PDF file) and the metadata (i.e., the submission form) to ensure it fulfills the guidelines. Make sure you follow them!

Hi all! I'm on sabbatical this year and have bandwidth to zoom into lab meetings to talk about open science in cog psych and speech research and/or how to implement practices that reduce research errors! (www.carleton.edu/perception-l...).

Email me if that sounds fun to you too!

Remember to check the full guidelines when submitting the manuscript to PsyArXiv (buff.ly/M3cRBW2).

Below, we also have a few friendly reminders!

I want this kind of back and forth to be somewhere that everyone can see it and enjoy it, in perpetuity. What if peer review worked more like this, in the open?

Kailey does awesome and rigorous research, is an exceptional teacher, and somehow still finds time for service to the field; most recently, she was instrumental in helping us return PsyArXiv to normal operations.

Psychology is lucky to have her!

"Everything" included "old stuff" because even some older preprints were still in the moderation queue. This wasn't obvious to users bc preprints went live immediately, why would anyone check back to see if it's been moderated? 🙃

This post blog.psyarxiv.com/2025/08/20/c... explains it in more detail but tl;dr we had a sizeable backlog of unmoderated preprints and the switch to pre-moderation made them private until moderated. Moderation is the only way to tell the junk from the real stuff, so everything was affected.
