On that front I at least get why they can't make the WoL do much with their weapon in cutscenes. MH has the same issue, they'd have to animate it fourteen times for only one version to be appreciated by most players. But at a certain point, come on man

We get one per expansion and it's a recreation of a scene from the CG trailer and otherwise it's generic animations with cuts and camera angles to try to make it look dramatic 😭 if there's one thing I wish they'd bring back from 1.0 it's this

Also the fact that we don't get fully animated scenes almost ever so it's a huge deal when they like. show us a weapon idle pose we haven't seen before

A dramatic argument loses a lot of the tension when everyone is taking turns not talking over each other and there's a solid second of dead air between each dialogue box

I think an often overlooked factor in the way a lot of XIV cutscenes get undermined is just the way they play out in the engine. You're basically watching a VN play out while trying to have the same pacing as a fully choreographed cinematic
