No. They think he has been reasonable.

Have a quick look at my previous posts if you like.

Are you speaking for all rugby supporters or are these your personal views?
judisutherland.bsky.social
Ok. I’ve had conversations with Labour members who are concerned that she won’t be as neutral as she should be, but I don’t know her record well enough to say. I feel we don’t have a great list to choose from.

There is definitely a far left position which I can’t support and it seems loony to me.
judisutherland.bsky.social
The leader of a country has to meet all sorts of people because of their role. An independent TD can choose who they stand with.
judisutherland.bsky.social
No it does not. I’m centre left.
judisutherland.bsky.social
Yeah well I vote left, but I don’t think friendship with Mick Wallace, Claire Daly and George Galloway is a good look for a president.
judisutherland.bsky.social
It’s supposed to be a non political post, more of a diplomatic one. I don’t see her engaging in good faith with our strongest allies.
judisutherland.bsky.social
It doesn’t. It means I am maintaining my principles but you are voting for someone with intolerable views on the things that matter. But, you do you.
judisutherland.bsky.social
That's not the point. I have two principles. One is commitment to the EU and the other is support for trans people. I can't vote for either candidate on that basis. I obviously know that one if them is going to win, but I'm not endorsing either of them. Maybe that doesn't mean anything to you.

She can’t say anything nice about the EU now. Nor NATO, apparently. And anyone who witters on about the ‘military industrial complex’ is a lost cause IMHO. But what bothers me is the company she keeps on the loony left.

I have concluded that I can’t vote for either of them.
judisutherland.bsky.social
Who is imposing this 60% rule? 52% seemed sufficient for us to leave.

And I do realise it’s not the UK’s unilateral decision. I’ve been living with this for ten years now.

FOM is an intrinsic part of the single market so that’s given. And the ties to the EU would be… joining…

This is all set out in the Copenhagen Criteria but you are being tautological by saying in order to join we have to be willing to join.

When they tell you they plan on throwing out the constitution, believe them.
judisutherland.bsky.social
It’s not obvious. How do you think we would demonstrate long term commitment and long lasting majority etc.? In our constitution, parliament is sovereign and can take us out again by a simple act of parliament at any time.
judisutherland.bsky.social
I don’t think the EU is in the business of punishing people. They will want us back because we will be a big market for free trade, and because it will look good for us admit the EU is a good club to be part of. The terms will be similar to those for any accession country.
judisutherland.bsky.social
So what would be your solution?
judisutherland.bsky.social
Did you ask them about that or are you using your imagination?

Every accession country is subject to elections. The accession process doesn’t depend on a particular party being in power.

I wasn’t implying anything about the fertility rate of the immigrant population. Just saying that if we need skilled workers now, immigration is one of the quickest ways to do it. We could also train or retrain British workers but then someone would have to do the jobs they are leaving.
