My negative review of Vampires is one of my most popular, and I feel bad for that because I love Carpenter!
It doesn't super work, but the first ~20 minutes have some top tier kills before it falls into a pit of nastyness.

And yes, Starman rules! It's his most emotional film and so lovely.
