After relearning (and enjoying a lot Lobositz, BAR system) moving to WWII with Barbarossa: Army Group Center from
@gmtgames.bsky.social. Looks nice on the table. Let’s see if the Soviets manage to stop the Nazis. Now I just have to read the rules…
The Austrians tried a cavalry overun west of the magnificent Sullowitzer tiergarten, but failed. The plan involved a second cavalry formation but they now face disaster too. Elsewhere, things don’t look good for the Austrians either. Lobositz from BAR system, Clash of Arms.
Well, I think that what you and others do is a necessary task. I am not really into canceling anyone, I love wargaming and I’m ok with playing (occasionally) the bad guys. But I do think the hobby needs a fair amount of introspection and sensitivity if it’s to be a healthy thing to spend time on.
That is not to say that the author makes an apology of the killing of Native American families but rather takes a detached position that I cannot agree with. Anyway, this reminded me of @fredserval.bsky.social ‘s Homo Ludens fantastic panel on the Clean Wehrmacht Myth and wanted to share.
It just felt wrong to me to actually play genocide, even if that is realistic in historical terms. Especially disturbing was that I couldn’t see any actual criticism in the rules or in the design notes about the use of genocide as a tool to “pacify” the West.
I very recently tried to play the first volume of the Indian Wars of the American West, Adobe Walls by Legion Wargames. But, actually to my surprise, I couldn’t. I was sickened by the explicitness of one of the US victory points source: loot and burn the Comanche and Kiowa winter camps.
The Germans defend in depth in bocage and are really tough to crack unless you have plentiful supply, which the Allies don’t have. The only weak point is defended by the Panzer Lehr, but the 275D is rushing to set up a line in Canisy behind them. Battle for Normandy by

I’m curious to know how you organize the process of playing cooperatively.
Halfway through the time available, French pressure is about to break the Austrian defenses at several spots. However, the Austrians still have some muscle to throw into the fray. Victory points wise, this is still a clear Austrian victory in the long scenario of All are Brothers, Legion Wargames.
Turn 6 of 14 of my first try at All are brothers. French and Sardinian are pushing but the Austrians are not collapsing and reinforcements are coming. Really enjoying this game!
One turn down and the system seems rather accessible. Chit pull helps a lot with solitaire play. All are brothers from Legion Wargames. Seeing this, I’ve made my P500 preorder of At any cost Metz 1870 of @gmtgames.bsky.social
All are brothers from Legion Wargames and Bryan Armor on the table. I decided i might as well try to learn it with the full battle scenario. Beautiful map and counters.
Very happy with the gift from @gmtgames.bsky.social that I was lucky enough to win at the draw during the Mesa de Guerra online gaming convention. Thanks!!
Preparant les fitxes per la 50 divisió Nacional pel GTS Gandesa. Segur que hi ha maneres molt més eficients de fer aquestes coses…
GTS Battle of the Ebro: If my current understanding of the sources is correct, there was no way the Republicans could have taken Gandesa on July 26. No heavy weapons and just 6 battalions against some 10 battalions with artillery and air superiority.
And here the 35 division in all it’s never achieved glory.
Using old contemporary maps with an hexagonal grid superimposed, ready to retake the design of a GTS module covering the “Saga of the 35 international division“ during the 1st 10 days of the Battle of the Ebro. From Ascó to Gandesa and beyond. The scale is 1 hex 500m.
The @cube4me.bsky.social storage solution for @gmtgames.bsky.social Fields of Fire. Works nicely.
Comprado!
Trying to retrace objectives, movements etc of the 35 republican division at the Ebro using the division’s order sheets and the maps they had available in 1938. Further documentation for my homemade module of the 35 international division at the Ebro battle for MMP’s Grand Tactical Series system.
Interesting. I also have it but yet to be played. It will come after I finish the Normandy mission of the main box.
I’m about to finish mission 2… some vets already.
