I try so hard to skeet evenhandedly and objectively, leaning into my expertise and solidly reported facts & evidence. But we live in an era when telling the stone cold truth makes you sound unhinged. Because the stone cone truth is unhinged.

Holy shit, dude. My heart rate. Even watching it delayed and skipping breaks, I couldn't write the recap as I watched towards the end. I hate this fucking sport.

Finally. Someone who understands me.

Roki doesn't have his command. I am in Hell. This is exactly what I mean. I want to die.

Sometimes the timeline gives you a gift.

The Dodgers even had a play earlier in the year where an outfielder bobbled a ball before catching it, a runner tagged after the bobble and before the catch, and the ruling was the run scored because a runner can leave as soon as the ball touches leather.

They had no excuse not to know the rule.

<Whisper voice> The whole thing was the baserunners' collective fault; they needed to be on their respective bases and ready to tag as soon as the ball hit the glove, catch or no catch.

<Exhales for the first time in 3 hours>
OK, now I can appreciate that absurd double play.

This is explicitly authoritarian.

Republican lawmakers in North Carolina announced plans on Monday to redraw the state’s already gerrymandered congressional maps to further favor their party. The most likely target is the First Congressional District, which has the state’s only competitive House seat.
North Carolina Republicans Plan to Redraw Congressional Map to Add a Seat
The Trump administration has pushed Republican leaders to redraw House district maps before the midterm elections next year. His party already holds 10 of North Carolina’s 14 congressional seats.

Seriously, the guy knows he's allowed to take when the ball's out of the strike zone, right?

Pretty sure Andy Pages gets paid by the swing.

I know time marches on and nothing ever stays the same but I'd pay a lot of money to have Vin Scully and Bob Uecker in the booth for one last NLCS.

This is almost as good as there being a judicial finding that Angel Hernandez is a bad umpire. Not quite. But almost.

I have this one at #2 behind Aretha Franklin's Respect. Just bone-chillingly good.

Also it's a bit cliché these days from overexposure but when Gary Jules first released his melancholy cover of Mad World it felt revolutionary.

I regret to inform everyone that there is, in fact, a correct answer to this question. Aretha Franklin's Respect is a cover of an Otis Redding song, and that's the end of that debate. Sorry, folks.

Honorable mention to the Gourds' bluegrass cover of Gin and Juice, which is just incredible.

Without saying Hurt, fav Cover Song?

I read the physical books and got to like 8 or 9 before I nope-d out.

My daughter - a huge fan of the series - calls the middle books "the slog."
