For #WingedWednesday here is my drawing of a white-throated sparrow in some fall leaves. I did it about 10 years ago and wish I had varied the leaf colors more. Done in colored pencils on toned pastel paper. #Birds!🦉🪶 #art #nature #wildlife #autumnfoliage

OOOOh, thanks for the link! I'm looking forward to seeing more of his art.

Oh good, I'm glad you've got a healthy attitude towards his playing & aren't one of those overly critical parents who take the game too seriously.

The frame fits it perfectly! It's a peaceful piece of art, creating an almost meditative feeling while looking at it.

Her books are always very good, so I'll be looking for this at the library.

Last night, I started Josephine Baker's memoir titled "Fearless and Free". It's transcribed from interviews with a French reporter and was published in 1949, in the middle of her amazing life. #BookSky💡📚 #biographies #reading #nonfiction
Cover of a book about Josephine Baker, with a black & white photo of her on the cover. Taken from the back she turns towards the camera.

What a great close up and perfect accompaniment for the poem.

I never knew that about the name! Such bright colors and cheerful, too.

Oh no, that must've been very upsetting for your son. Hope that the embarrassment was short lived & didn't mar his love for the game.

An ankylosaurus was nibbling on your drawing paper? Oh no!

Noticed an unusual dent on the surface of a piece of Amatruda Amalfi paper and then muttering to myself as I realised that, 'ohh, that must have been the Ankylosaurus.'

What a great picture to have by your bed, I like the meaning it's infused with and it's so beautifully framed.

Oh my goodness, that bone is bigger than it's whole head! How impressive. Hope it wasn't a long trip back to their tree.

What a pretty snake. Look at those colors!

Those are very thorough baths! Such beautiful birds. My favorite species.

They both look so cuddly!

It's a terrific idea & I like the up in the air feeling of it. And you really get the look of the "lots of gulls everywhere" that being at the shore gives a visitor.

Oh wow! Headlights is a great description!
jkhsquonk.bsky.social
I like how our vantage point is up in the air, it really feels like the gulls are flying around the viewer. This is a great idea & somewhat different from your other work.

That is one fierce hen, to scare off a bold squirrel. I would not mess with that hen!

Hen and Squirrel.
Ink and gouache on Fabriano Medioevalis, approximately 95 × 64 mm.

Dedicated to the neighbourhood Goblin Squirrel (who might possibly just be a new mother after all).
Black ink drawing, primarily in silhouette, of a hen chasing off a squirrel as it scrambles over a fallen branch on the ground. The hen's comb and wattle are the only touch of red gouache. The piece is small and intricate, and is roughly the size of a business card.
