Our dog is leashed in the back seat! I've seen people driving with big dogs in their laps. Of course every other contractor truck has three big guys up front, all juggling hot coffee and Big Macs.

Most studies put mechanical failure pretty far down the list of causes. I'd be happier if local police patrolled out bar district regularly, particularly at night, instead of putting drunk driving checks miles from where all the drinking occurs.

The article indicates he fell from the Nantucket headed the other way. Seasickness maybe? Hanging over the rail? I've crossed before when heavy water was sweeping the upper decks, so they sometimes go when it is rough. The Nantucket and the Martha's Vineyard are the best ones in heavy weather.

The story has been updated with new information. The person is OK. Saved by a CG rescue swimmer and helicopter. Now there's a job for you-- jump out of a helicopter into a stormy ocean to swim and rescue someone in the water!
