DEAD OF NIGHT (1945)

A man's recurring nightmare is a sophisticated framing story for this anthology. One of the earliest examples of evil Ventriloquist's Dummy story. Clearly influenced Twilight Zone & Tales from the Crypt.

- An original vampire origin + it’s sinister, especially the juxtaposition of pornographic w/ church services & singing innocents, and itʼs not w/o artistic merit; wouldn’t say it was scary tho. Metaphors were lost on me and I think I missed a lot in the beginning. …

GANJA & HESS (1973)

Stabbed by an ancient dagger, Dr. Hess is cursed to be an immortal vampire with a hunger for blood. An artful take on vampires. Light on exposition the story is told primarily through imagery and sound.
