Bucks fall to Thunder 116-112 without Myles Turner
The Milwaukee Bucks wrapped up their preseason with a 116-112 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder as Myles Turner was held out with calf soreness.

The Bucks lead the Thunder 90-87 after the third quarter.

Giannis Antetokounmpo checks out with 3:42 to go in third quarter at 25 minutes of play. That's probably it for him. He scored 16 points on 5 of 8 shooting and went 6-10 from the free throw line. #NBASky

The #Bucks shot 50% from behind the 3-point line but trail 73-65 at the break because the #Thunder made eight more total shots.

Thunder have once again outdistanced themselves from the Bucks behind some tight defense, leading 68-58 with 2:24 to go in the first half.

The Thunder have retaken the lead, 54-50, in the last few minutes as Kevin Porter Jr., AJ Green and Bobby Portis Jr. checked in to play with Antetokounmpo and Gary Trent (the starters).

Giannis Antetokounmpo is back on the floor as well for the #Bucks, as the "small ball" five alongside Kyle Kuzma, Cole Anthony, Ryan Rollins and Taurean Prince.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is checking back in with 7:48 to go in the second quarter for OKC. #Bucks up 45-43.

The #Bucks held on through the rough start and take a 37-33 lead into the second quarter.

Looks like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will play the entire first quarter for OKC. He has 10 points and 3 steals so far.

Jericho Sims checking in now for Giannis Antetokounmpo with 3:14 to go in the first quarter. Antetokounmpo had eight points on 2 of 4 shooting, 4 of 5 free throw shooting, in about nine minutes of action. #NBASky

The scorers took a turnover away from the #Bucks, so they have eight officially. Seven are #Thunder steals.

No Turner creates some big man changes for the #Bucks, so Kyle Kuzma subs in now to play with Giannis Antetokounmpo-Ryan Rollins, Kevin Porter Jr. and Gary Trent Jr.

But, the positive for Milwaukee is that Giannis Antetokounmpo has helped put the #Bucks in the bonus already with 5:40 to go in the quarter.
jimowczarski.bsky.social
#Buck up to 9 turnovers already.
jimowczarski.bsky.social
The #Bucks getting a taste of some real defense - they've turned it over 5 times in less than four minutes and trail 16-8 in the early going vs. the #Thunder.

While Turner experience soreness is not great, he has dealt with calf issues in the past. That said, for some reason, most newcomers to Milwaukee deal with some sort of calf issue. Been going on since I got on the beat in '20-21 actually.

Myles Turner has soreness in his right calf and Gary Harris is out with a right hamstring strain. Which probably explains why Harris didn't play in Chicago.

Myles Turner is not currently warming up for the #Bucks, so he *appears* to be totally out for this game. That gives the Bucks 18 eligible players after waiving Cormac Ryan and Jamaree Bouyea yesterday.

Reigning league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will play for the #Thunder, alongside
Cason Wallace
Luguentz Dort
Alex Caruso
Isaiah Hartenstein

Bobby Portis is starting for Myles Turner tonight for the #Bucks

#Bucks won't need to cut down its roster to 15 guaranteed contracts until 4 p.m. on Oct. 20.

To make room for Coffey, a player with a guaranteed deal will have to be waived. But, the Bucks created enough cap room in the summer to absorb whatever number that may be. #NBAsky

Pregame, #Bucks head coach Doc Rivers was pretty effusive about veteran Amir Coffey.

Coffey is in camp on a non-guaranteed deal, but Rivers casually slipped his name in as a possible starting small forward (with Kyle Kuzma and Taurean Prince) if he didn't go 3 guards. #NBASky
