Whittingham said they've emphasized more rest than in years past, especially in the bye week. He feels that the rest has helped the team and how they've been able to produce on the field.

"Preservation is key."

Whittingham said the coaches take a small segment of the team meeting today to talk about the history of the rivalry. Said they'll educate the players of the significance of this game. But it's not nearly as important as practice, watching film, etc.

Whittingham said Wayshawn Parker has been hampered a little bit by injury but is doing well now. Said he and NaQuari Rogers continue to be a one-two punch that they love, and it'll stay that way.

"It remains to be seen" on whether this is Kyle Whittingham's last rivalry game, he said. He's not leaning into that, but it's certainly a possibility.

Whittingham on being 28-of-29 in the red zone: Big part of the success is the QB run game and the offensive line. Devon Dampier has been the biggest key to that for Utah. He's very instinctive.

Whittingham said there hasn't been a lot of changes with this team since the Texas Tech loss. Felt like the biggest difference is just the health of Devon Dampier, who he said gutted it out to play.

Whittingham said it was too late to make any wholesale changes in the game plan with Sam Leavitt ruled out. Said the team wouldn't have changed anything anyway even if they would have known earlier in the week.
