It’s been a while!

Life pressed pause when I had to say goodbye to my gorgeous dog.

Since then there’s been a big change, I’ve stepped back into the NHS!

So here I am, ready to reconnect.

What have you been up to lately?

Chatting to @curiousbecks.bsky.social over the weekend and we’ve both reflected on how despite LinkedIn being the professional place to be, we miss the short form community engagement - so giving #NurseSky another go. So hey 👋🏽 Today I’m LDN based and working with #CSPStudents Regional Reps, you?

A thread worth reading following the #SocialCare announcement this morning 🧵 #NurseSky
If you’re waking to news of the commission on #socialcare your first instinct may be to head back under the covers. What, another one? Really? But there are genuine reasons to support it, along with a some concerns, particularly on the timing. Shortish thread.

In my role as a leadership facilitator I often encourage nurses and midwives to consider these questions

1. What kind of ‘professional ancestor’ do you want to be?

2. If people are telling stories about you and your leadership style what would you want them to be saying? #NurseSky
Well done Leanne, it got busy! Hope you enjoyed your hour of online chaos 🤭 #NurseSky
They need support, be encouraged to share, have sponsorship from those who have come before them, and most importantly feel safe #NurseSky

Final question of this month's #SkyChat

Starting with our students - what can we do? #NurseSky

Change the stories to change the culture - great insights this evening!

#NurseSky #SkyChat
We need to create enabling conditions so that nurses feel connected to their shared identity and help galvanise a collective voice with a new narrative

If you want to learn about a culture listen to their stories, if you want to change a culture change the stories #NurseSky
Challenges… never enough of us 🥲

Opportunities… we have new tools and platforms to support us #NurseSky
Nursing leaders and organisations need to work collaboratively to achieve this. Working together for the better ✊🏽 #NurseSky

Great insights.

We're lucky to have Sally with us this evening. From her doctoral research, Sally conceptualised and named the phenomenon of "Nursism".

#NurseSky
Nurses tend to talk about nursing using sentiment, struggle to explain the difference between lay and therapeutic care, registered and non registered nursing work #NurseSky

Third question - some of you have already mentioned that we can be seen as "doctors helpers".

How do patients see us in this context? What about how our colleagues and managers see us? #NurseSky #SkyChat
