Zero evidence in this showing the minuscule amounts of lead in protein can lead to its bioaccumulation or adverse health outcomes in humans. If you want to support that claim you’d need to run a controlled study to show protein consumption is linked to bioaccumulation of lead.

Im not proposing anything — you’re correlating lead levels in protein powder with bioaccumulation of lead post consumption. That is a hypothesis that they didn’t test. We can’t say based on this uncontrolled study if trace lead in protein is even correlated to lead bioaccumulation.

If you want to claim that you need studies showing short or long term protein consumption (at recommended servings) leads to increased lead absorption to unsafe levels in bodily tissues (in animals or humans) but that’s not in this study and the outroar is currently unsubstantiated

It is impossible to consume processed foods with 0 lead exposure. There’s no analysis in this study of the metabolism of metals in the body over time related to protein consumption. Lead poisoning is defined as >5ug/dL lead in blood and researchers don’t look at serum post protein consumption.

If you read their “study” the lead thresholds they calculate are in “parts per billion” so unless you’re pumping your stomach with an ungodly level of protein powder every single day this is bullshit… same logic anti-vaxxers use to “call out” vaccines for being made with poisonous metals
