As stated by the frat, they are pulling out because one (1) of their organizers is no longer welcome at the con.
That being the case, we can only speculate as to why they are being so vague with their announcements, (especially when it only serves to stir the pot)

Con staffer here. The reason they didn’t make a statement is because most conventions, furry or otherwise, have an internal policy that prevents them from making public statements regarding attendee bans, unless they present a credible threat. This was not one of those cases.

Strong-arming the convention into making a public statement would be inviting a lot more unnecessary speculation by people who weren’t even there, and would only serve to give the banned individual more attention, which I believe is exactly why the org implicated the con in the first place.

I would like to point out, as a con staffer, that most cons have an unspoken rule that they don’t make statements regarding attendee bans unless there is a direct public-safety risk. Hounding BFC for sticking to their own rules is ridiculous, especially when there is no threat to the public.

What’s “drama” about this? I’d point at the frat’s vague-posting about the con being responsible (they weren’t). BFC, being unaware of the event pulling out at all, didn’t have a big beautiful prepared statement (which made people mad).
