If a character hasn’t appeared for 30 pages, there should be a footnote reminding everyone who they are so I don’t have to flip back and try to figure it out.

Tell them to jump at any opportunity regardless of weird hours, a smaller market, a job that isn't entirely aligned with their dreams - getting a foot in the door and willingness to tackle anything will go a long way towards future success.
