Budget-ass version from Sinix: tape a piece of paper to his drawing tablet to give it a nice surface, then replaces when it gets worn down/dirty. Doesn't work on anything with a screen though.

China Mieville's Embassytown was a favourite of an English tutor friend of mine for its central themes of language. It was pretty bonkers, e.g. aliens that can only speak truth have to manufacture real situations they can use as metaphor. Been meaning to check out more of his work.

Loved Ancillary Justice. The sequels change a bit in tone I think but were also very enjoyable. Also rec Ninefox Gambit, first of another strange-scifi trilogy, and Children of Time - large-scale space experiment accidentally evolves intelligent spiders, follows their evolving culture.

The latest Hearth-7 #LancerRPG #mech off the rank, the Hellbender! Put together from scrap and hooked up to too many reactors, the Hellbender loads itself with heat to defend itself and its allies.

A large, squat, hunchback mech in an upright quad-leg configuration, clearly made from mismatched, damaged parts and patched-on armour plates, and covered in dirt, rust and grime.

It has one large arm on one side ending in an armoured fist with two small flames atop it, and on the other it has 2 mismatched arms, one holding a sledgehammer with ends glowing with heat, and the other attached to a large shield resembling a bent car radiator.

Its top and chest armour is made of a huge bucket scoop from a digger, cut diagonally to reveal its horned head and a series of glowing pipes and exposed reactors. Around its waist are a series of mismatched vents radiating steam.

Its four thick legs are also mismatched, with the two most visible in front ending in a shoe-like foot and a flat, circular piston-suspended platform with 4 toes arranged evenly around it. Both are covered in patched bare metal armour plates.

It also is decorated with graffiti, consisting of the symbol of the Hearth Revolutionary Forces (a large red bird) on the chest armour, and the above the head the slogan "Burn bright the fires of liberty". There is a large red Anarchy symbol on one thigh.

Text at the bottom of the image reads:
