Hey there hi there ho there - we're doing intros?

I'm Jay. Long ago I was a Jungle Cruise skipper at Disneyland. Today I'm a gamedev at Respawn Entertainment.

I have 3 cats - Togepi, Moo, and Mothman.

My hobbies are various tech-y things, working on my tiki bar, and my N-Scale model railroad!
3 cats watching birds on TV. There is a black cat, a white cat, and a grey cat. All 3 birds are very interested in the television. 2 model railroad tracks traveling on the inside of a temple. There is lava coming up from the ground and a statue with a glowing jewel on top of its head. Me back when I worked as a Jungle Cruise skipper! I'm 6 feet tall, white skin with black hair, and I'm holding a microphone while working at the Jungle Cruise. I was 22 or 23 when this photo was taken. Me laying down stomach-first on a box while dressed in my Jungle Cruise outfit. My glasses are askew. The box says "this end up" and has an arrow pointing upward.
I am sure there is a better way to do it - @baileytownsend.dev mentioned I could be using a put instead of a create to skip creating a bunch of records.

But I honestly didn't do _that_ much thinking when I wrote the script, I just needed something that worked
If you're self-hosted (looks like you might be), I think you can do 10,000 records/day before Bluesky drops starts dropping records from your PDS at the Relay level.

Not sure if those 10k records only count Bluesky lexicons or not, so if you want to science it I'd be interested in the results
It took approximately 72 hours to port the 16k records that met the criteria for a scrobble.

A lot of that is because I hit rate limits and got locked out of ALL activity on the network for 18 hours (I couldn't even like posts on Bluesky).

Rate limit info is here: docs.bsky.app/docs/advance...

@indexx.dev - if you want, the code I wrote is here: tangled.org/strings/did:...

It's built for Spotify but if you can parse the Apple Music output then it should work.

I was on a Mushroom PDS at the time and was getting hit with rate limits, but I think non-Mushroom PDSes have higher limits

Converts a Spotify full account export (not the limited export, the full one) to PDS records compatible with Teal.fm's "fm.teal.alpha.feed.play" lexicon

Honestly I'd almost say it's worth checking out if only because wow I have never seen a show this bad before.

It is impressive to be this bad in 2025; you have to really try
It's 3D animated but so inconsistent with its animation.

There's no impact frames half the time. Sometimes a model gets rotated around its root without any bone animation, or they play a sequence at double speed for no reason.
The voice acting is completely flat and the script is all over the place
My fiance isn't feeling well which means she controls the remote - and I get to suffer through her choice of shows to watch.

We're watching the 2025 Winx Club reboot on Netflix. This is without a doubt the WORST show I've ever seen. It's impressive how bad it is, like watching a train wreck

thinking about the time a cool Instagram fashion account asked me to name my favorite products and i didn't know i was supposed to name fashion products, so i said pigeon food because i like feeding pigeons and their followers were like "why the fuck do i need pigeon food for my outfit?"
The Instagram account Saint featured me. The first slide says: "Derek Guy - Dieworkwear. Derek Guy is a menswear writer who has written for The New York Times, Esquire, and Mr. Porter. He also runs a menswear blog called Die, Workwear" One of the slides showing my favorite products. It's it's a big bag of Hagen pigeon food. The food is fortified with the vitamins and nutrients pigeons need. Instagram user writes: "Why tf do i need pigeon food for my outfit." I replied: "this is what i can afford to eat after spending all my money on clothes ::sad face::"
You mean "Remind me in 3 days"
GSC are too high, Sun/Moon too low... but yeah, other than that I think this is a pretty good list
I guess the washing machine might make it even more difficult since soap counts as "residue which will 100% cause a short" if there were any suds still on the board
In English - I'm hopeful, but unless you IMMEDIATELY put them in the bag without attempting to turn them on first I doubt the trick will work.

Not gonna rule it out but as a rule of thumb if you're going to try it, make sure you don't apply power to the electronics until it's 1000% dry
So the rice trick works because it evaporates the water on the circuitboard. As long as there's no residue/minerals causing a short between 2 chips on the board, you'll be fine...

...UNLESS the chips were already damaged by a short, which could've happened if you apply power while they're wet
Specifically, this Mothman
A slightly blurry picture of a grey and white kitty named Mothman. He is sitting out on the catio. He is mostly grey with a white bib. He is sitting in a loaf. It is raining behind him
Old Reddit let moderators customize the CSS of their subreddits.

If you go to old.reddit.com (which most long-time Reddit users do as it has fewer ads etc. and can be customized with the Reddit Enhancement Suite extension) then you still see the old CSS.

So he's just looking at old Reddit
I blame Google. Their monopoly really killed it.

The fact that they went out of their way to cripple YouTube and even Google Search really hurt adoption.

We almost broke up Microsoft for less. One company should not own so many products

For my 1000th ride on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure the cast members surprised me by getting permission for five of my favorite cast members to ride with me, and they also made me this really sweet banner congratulating me! A core memory day for sure and I’m so grateful to them! ❤️🥹
Didn't they push out David Hogg because he talked about doing this? But it's fine when they do it
Mastodon is this same drama shattered into 11,000 pieces.

Tiny little forum mods with their own little fiefdoms that defederate you from your friends because they disagree with some rando's views on veganism or whatever
Lest we forget that he is ALSO a corpo stooge who is in the pocket of Sam Altman et al and doesn't give a single shit who is hurt by them:

"“While I strongly support the author’s goal of establishing necessary safeguards for the safe use of AI by minors, (the bill) imposes such broad restrictions on the use of conversational AI tools that it may unintentionally lead to a total ban on the use of these products by minors,” Newsom said."
In addition to what's stated below, this bill also would've stopped healthcare providers from discriminating based on gender identity (CA hospitals are dropping trans patients).

Why? Well, according to Newsom - cost, of course! His go-to lie (as demonstrated above)

1. Yesterday, the press gave Gavin Newsom favorable coverage for signing pro-LGBTQ+ bills.

Little noticed, however, was that he vetoed one of the most important ones: a bill allowing trans people 12 month HRT stockpiles, protecting them from federal threats.

The bill would have allowed transgender people to maintain a safe supply of medication in the era of government crackdowns on care.

Isn't this conceptually similar to ammo in shooters?

E.g. You can only carry so much ammo for your rifle, so you bring a pistol that can carry a lot more ammo. Each area only has so much ammo that can be dropped, and clearing the area gives you an ammo cache for more
Hooray! My Bluesky account is now no longer hosted by Bluesky, and is instead hosted by "the server rack I have in the corner of my office".
No gods, no masters!
I can hear my NAS hard drive spin up a lil when I upload stuff. Gonna be interesting to see what happens if I ever have a power outage lol
jaystevens.me IS running on an independent PDS, and is hosted via https://pds.jaystevens.me.
Hey @shame.evil.gay did my main make it to the self-hosted PDS running in my office okay?
Eyyyy I have a self-hosted PDS running!

Haven't migrated my account over yet because I don't fully trust myself to have done it correctly first try lmao
