"to democratize art is not every person having a cute drawing made in seconds, to democratize art is every person having time and health to learn and make art if they chose to, and mainly to have the means to think and relate introspectively with art."

OpenAI is using Studio Ghibli-style memes as an ad hoc promotional campaign for its new image generator—despite Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki's famous hatred of AI. Sam Altman made his X avatar a 'Ghiblified' portrait.

Disgracing Miyazaki is part of the point: It's more proof to them tech has won.
OpenAI's Studio Ghibli meme factory is an insult to art itself
Sam Altman is promoting his new image generator by appropriating the work of one of the greatest living animators—who is "disgusted" by AI.

Smokin' sick! I can tell your shading evolved as well, let alone the background effects.

New 02 art from Kenji Watanabe that will appear on products for its anniversary.
Way to mix feelings. Quality art direction and animation, I'd say even better than the latest movies given how close it is to the original shows. Kakudou's touch all over, that much is clear. The truest final evolution.

And still, looks like this is all we'll get, a PV. Vile Toei, such a tease. 😮‍💨

This tradition, deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the Trás-os-Montes region, was recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019. It's a lively spectacle that draws visitors from around the world to experience the rich history and festive spirit of Podence.

The Caretos of Podence are a vibrant and unique tradition from the village of Podence in northern Portugal. These colorful masked figures are central to the "Entrudo Chocalheiro," a Carnival celebration marking the end of winter and the arrival of spring.
Carnival is upon us, and the horde of tricolored, bell-ringing rascals are unleashed onto the streets of the northern Portuguese village of Podence.

This tribute has been on my mind for a while now, so here's a "regional variant" inspired by this colorful tradition. 🧵

This is the art that was used for the cover of my first art book. The size of the original was A4, which is a big paper for me. I am confident that it is the best artwork I have ever done, and I paid a lot of attention to the details.
