UNA-UK is deeply concerned by the UK Government’s announcement of new police powers to restrict protests.

At a time of fear and polarisation, the UK should lead by example — reaffirming the universal values of peace, justice, and human rights at the heart of the UN Charter.

It’s horrible that yet again many Jewish people will be feeling frightened and insecure, and on an important holy day. Obviously, no one should ever be murdered for their religious beliefs, and this should not even need to be said.

Inevitably but not necessarily fairly, many people commenting are drawing links to Gaza as war in the Middle East ripples and reverberates around the world. In fact we don’t yet know much about this attacker, so such immediate judgements of motive tend to be based on assumptions - plus fear.

Sad and sickened to see the news of the attack on the synagogue in Manchester. Horrible that two people were killed and sounds like the attacker was trying to kill Ben larger numbers.
