Posts Media Videos Starter Packs
When students all have their own avatars trained on their life story, we might be in real trouble. At the moment, there's enough friction when creating personalized AI podcasts that I'm not worried yet. Especially if teachers prioritize collaboration, iteration and process over the final product.
I was thinking about that as I was writing this. As the tech changes, I believe there will still be surprising benefits to multimedia for assessment. Each layer of media (writing>audio> video) adds new opportunities for humanity that are easier to offer personally than they are to copy digitally.
All teachers should read this
I don't know that this saved me any time, but students got so much more individualized feedback than I ever could have generated on my own.

Sometimes AI isn't about working less—it's about impact per hour invested 💪 🕰️. #EduSky #AIEdu #AIinEducation

The state of research on AI and education from controlled studies: Growing evidence that, when used as a tutor with instructor guidance, AI seems to have quite significant positive effects. When used alone to get help with homework, it can act as shortcut that hurts learning.

Still early days.

I don’t mean to be a broken record but AI development could stop at the o3/Gemini 2.5 level and we would have a decade of major changes across entire professions & industries (medicine, law, education, coding…) as we figure out how to actually use it & adapt our systems.

AI disruption is baked in.

We don’t need AI to think for us—we need it to think with us.
Co-agency in classrooms starts with intentional design.

🤔 How are you using AI as a thought partner or teaching assistant? We're looking for some great examples to share 👀.

I’m really grateful for their perspective on all this. Just picked up AI Snake Oil. I think regardless of whether they’re right or wrong, they’re taking a really important stance for the moment we’re in.
Imagine being any kind of migrant right now. We've got folks who are really struggling to find pathways to any country that will validate their humanity. It's important to support agencies like Kino Border Initiative.

Why are we stuck in either/or thinking about AI in education? Either personalized learning OR human connection? Either innovation OR tradition?
The sweet spot isn't choosing sides—it's finding where these "opposites" enhance each other. #edusky

Evidence that a well prompted LLM can help learning from a (small, single-subject) randomized controlled trial at Harvard: “here we show that students learn more than twice as much in less time with an AI tutor compared to an active learning classroom, while also being more engaged and motivated.”

A thread on the difficulties of learning to code. Studies show that roughly 1/3 of incoming Comp Sci majors do not progress to their 2nd year, often due to the difficulty of the subject and lack of preparation. 🧵

[Sigh].

A) Jelani Cobb is a great journalist and teacher of journalism and he oversaw his students as they did superb and vital work covering the protests on their campus.

B) He is telling them (as he says later) the honest and brutal truth: their school can't protect them from the Fed Govt.
Great. Columbia J-school students from abroad are being told to obey in advance by their dean. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/12/n...

If you have used LLM image generators, you know they are hard to control: LLM had to send a prompt to a separate image generation tool, it did not not make the image.

Gemini is the first public release of a full multimodal LLM that can directly make images. This allows the systems to do detail work

sometimes I feel like people who freak out about keeping science fiction and fantasy separate and distinct are like that little kid who doesn't want the peas and carrots to touch on their plate.

It's all imaginative fiction, folks.
