Maccabi Tel Aviv will decline any ticket allocation for their Europa League tie against #AVFC. @TheAthleticFC revealed on Thursday that the West Midlands Police (WMP) had requested supporters of the Israeli football club be prevented from buying tickets.

Emery: "Sometimes he was struggling physically and was getting injured. Now he’s keeping fit very well and for 90 minutes, he is being consistent. Now I am not watching him in the 70th minute, in the 80th minute. It is fantastic how he’s getting the balance within himself.” #AVFC
As some players made their way out, Matty Cash was among the last to leave. Waiting was John McGinn. "Cashy! Still watching your pass?"

Cash is close to signing a new deal. It's no surprise - quietly excellent and knows the nuances of #AVFC's RB remit:

Aston Villa, Matty Cash, and how his match-winning pass could change perceptions
The Poland international has been quietly excellent this season and his pass was crucial in vital win

Unai Emery: "Today I watched him and thought ‘wow’ this is our better Watkins, He didn't score or assist but he played fantastic. We attacked through him. Sometimes we can play brilliant or not brilliant but we always have to work." #AVFC
The more I watch it, the more credit I have to give Matty Cash. Most players (I assumed this was the case) would blindly smash the ball upfield. The pass, under pressure and as the last man, was extraordinary. And to do it against Spurs... no wonder he had a big grin. #AVFC
In fairness, Cash was always going to clear that, but rather than go straight up in the air, it was driven. What a pass and the control is just as good.

Excellent from both full-backs. Maatsen and Barkley are on for Onana and Digne. #AVFC
Incredible. Cash, the last man, smashes a clearance forward, Digne somehow plucks the ball out of the air (on the foot stamped on twice), gives it to Buendia, who curls into the far corner. The game has been scrappy, but that's incredible. Don't see that goal often. 2-1 #AVFC

Emery not happy with the challenges of some Spurs players. Just had a back-and-forth with Pedro Porro. Scrappy game this with no time in midfield. #AVFC
Better pass quality and combinations from #AVFC in the second half. Tottenham have pace but struggling to connect the same way. Emery now has three No 10s on. In theory, that should help. Game is there to be won for both
Guessand and Malen off. McGinn goes to the right, Buendia on the left. Rogers stays central. #AVFC
Watkins and Buendia are coming on. #AVFC
Konsa blocks Simon's effort heading for goal. In his 200th PL game, has again been excellent. But Spurs are pushing & Villa players (Digne at the back post) guilty of switching off. These are the moments #AVFC have to get through. Martinez makes a save and smiles to the home crowd
HT: Spurs 1-1 #AVFC

Aggressive but scrappy. Frank trying to nullify Villa's 10s, which Rogers didn't allow for his goal. Both snapping into tackles in midfield, helped by high lines that the other is attempting to exploit. Winning 1v1 duels/taking your marker out the game is key
Oh my word. What a hit. Outstanding from Rogers. He had given the ball away cheaply a couple of times just before, but then produces that...

Had a difficult start to the season for #AVFC, but few can do that. A long-range strike, outside the box, in the position he loves. 1-1
Midfield is very congested and frenetic but both teams are creating 1v1s out-wide. As #AVFC have shown a few times, if they can play through midfield, the pitch opens up

Like Burnley, Emery wants 2v2 against the CBs & been close to getting in, but Danso & van de Ven are so quick
Feels like a typical Frank/Emery match up, with Frank wanting to take advantage of Emery's narrow system
Remember two seasons ago Son scored a hat-trick of offsides against #AVFC's high line. While Villa aren't as dramatically high here, the line is still brave. Kudus, Tel, Odobert all looking to run behind. Aggressive man-marking game with 1v1s out-wide is very interesting.
Tottenham and Matty Cash, they don't forget...

#AVFC need to settle here, look ruffled by the early goal and Tottenham are setting traps when Villa's midfielders (like Onana did) play first time round the corner
Goal Spurs. Bentancur. 1-0.

#AVFC don't organise after the phases following a corner (conceded by their own making).
McGinn off the left (fourth position he has played this season) and as a second 10, Guessand right, Rogers behind Malen.

#AVFC
It may or may not be the game for it, but going forward, Amadou Onana could have a bigger impact using his natural attributes. He has been deployed in a deeper, more controlled role, but has the attributes (eg; height) that he and #AVFC could use more, such as crashing the box
Emery says Guessand is better holding width than Malen but still not a winger. With Malen not a traditional No 9, #AVFC have to create as many opportunities to get them close to one another in possession (4-2-2-2). Onana also needs to offer the same impact as Bogarde has recently
#AVFC XI: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Pau, Digne; Kamara, Onana; Guessand, McGinn, Rogers; Malen

Two changes from Burnley win. Guessand replaces Watkins (Malen up top) with Onana in for Bogarde. Sancho is back on the bench.
The last two visits have shown the best & worst of #AVFC. The first was a turnaround win, with smart in-game tweaks. The second was close but the opposite happened - making subs & losing their way

This is the start of a run that will give a better idea of this Villa side's level
The UK Government is expecting West Midlands Police to lay out what additional resources could allow them to police the game safely, with both #AVFC & Maccabi Tel Aviv fans. The Safety Advisory Group meeting is expected to take place early next week.
