I tend to agree, but I also have a pretty strong dislike of soldiers of fortune. This ultimately isn't my primary, so it's not something I'll get too invested in, but I worry that it's a DNC special (eg. a lose lose, both candidates are terrible).

TBF, Platner has his issues. He's an ex black rock mercenary (who has spoken against it, but suspect) and has been talked up by many of the same people who talked up Fetterman.

I'm no fan of Mills (MY GOD NO MORE FOSSILS) but I'm not throwing in on someone with this little proof of quality.

That doesn't invalidate this trend, though.

The article is talking premature deaths for this demographic and those deaths are often attributable to lifestyle or environmental factors.

If it's statistically notable that one group dies from more preventable causes, the question of "why" is relevant

People are clowning on this for many reasons but it's worth noting that this is a direct war on the concept of published literature. Erotica is a HUGE chunk of book revenue these days (and that's fine! Let people read smut!) and this is an effort to crush that sector.

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.
