one thing I think about every year is how there's actual seasoned comics professionals who have said, to my face, "don't do this survey or they'll reduce the page rates for everyone"

to which I say:

if they use that excuse, they were going to reduce your page rate anyway.

The data does go through checking first to reorient obvious outliers! Sometimes some lucky individuals get paid that much.
