i briefly had a chat with will.
while @mixmastermorris.bsky.social was doing his silver foil thing.
after eskimos and egypt had caused chaos.
was such a brilliant gig.
and a massive turning point for me.
i got to see them twice.
just after the release of gorbachev when they were still a guitar band with synths,
and then on the full on electronica/dub en-tact tour.
days before will. r.i.p.
they totally reflected my move from indie guitars to electronica.
hence they have a special place in my world.
gosh.
did not expect you to be a fan of this.
sunday session : yeah i know re 'that song', but damn, the rest of this album still hits the spot.
sunday session : adds 'the shamen' to my sonos favourites.
sunday session : i loved the era during which bands added an ambient version of their album as an extra.
of course the ultimate was the chapterhouse vs global communication collab.
despite the dreadful album title, i also loved this variation.
sunday session : so now that i have done the if? catalogue, what next ?
oh yeah, the apples.
another major label baggy vs dance project by ex members of WIN that put out some amazing remixes.
not on YT unfortunately.

dont have that ..
never ever seen it.
guess cd copies are somewhat limited.
sunday session : time for the album.
despite the dreadful cover and title.
also, there is a side story here.
one of if? was sean mclusky.
he of lots of music industry chaos, that involved music that was very different to this album.
also, the post if? world was effectively earl brutus.
no YTs of their maddest remix : Saturdays Angels - The Rites Of Spring remix.
the band basically remixed their own classic into a full on prog house epic that had little to do with the source material.

hang on, i may !
do you mean 'brain mix' that was on the original cd edition ?
which is of course in the playlist, and an all time classic
i mean seriously #2 : epic remix chaos from leftfield.
i once had a chat with a PR and expressed my love for If? and she was totally befuddled re my love, and dismissed them as boyband crap.
more fool she.
this is bloody brilliant.

i mean seriously, this remix by the grid still sounds brilliant.
guitars, boyband vocals, piano house riff, and a proper dancefloor throb.

IF? & The Grid - If? [Come The Revolution Mix] (1991)

yeah, they were major label funded indie vs club styled baggy, but they had history :

- ex members of the jo boxers
- tDR covers
- jim fry photography
- the grid and leftfield as remixers.

the only problem ?
the dreadful band name that's impossible to google.
post excess sunday session : second wind, aka wine, now kicking in.
also, following a nudge from @thenighttrain.co.uk re '91, i have decided to go down the if? rabbit hole again.
i bloody loved this lot.

bloody loved if?
the leftfield remixes were rather epic.
the tDR covers were typically excellent.
and the album (92) totally bombed.
but this 91 release still hits the spot on a decent soundsystem.

post excess sunday session : grabbed the 3cd set of this upon release.
the 2 extra cds are full of dark-n-wonderful tracks that were originally released on special ltd edition vinyl known as the 'test pressings' series.
of course.
thank f&ck i never succumbed to the chaos of vinyl.
post excess sunday session : feeling worse for wear, suspect this evenings choices are going to be a bit calmer than usual.

A long shot, but does anyone out there have a copy of this Doris Troy album, and if so would you be willing to rip me some audio of 'My Father's House'?

I would be eternally grateful 🙏
i just remember the reviews/press etc.
but as i said, never ever saw the cd out in the wild.
totally worthy if you love your trip hop all messed up.
in other news : f&ck a dislike button.
saturday session : have read about this album over the years but i've never seen a copy out in the wild.
then yesterday a friend sorted me out.
proper psychedelic trip hop before the coffee table variant took over.
so so so good.
haha.
i have their synth/techno album in the pile ready to be given a spin when in the mood.
