my god there has never been a more accurate use of this

They probably made more robust deep-sea submersibles on old episodes of Blue Peter.
More like winding the clock back to before April 1861.
I give it a few months before the Republican Party adopts that flag as their new logo.
Wild - they are literally just giving huge amounts of US money to a foreign power so that a few people close to the administration can make a killing.

Please remember that the disgust people have over Christopher Columbus is not based on some modern, 21st century “woke” ideology, but rather on contemporaneous accounts of atrocities that make many modern genocides appear quaint in comparison.

Below, are the accounts of Bartlomé de las Casas.
But too many of the slaves died in captivity. And so Columbus, desperate to pay back dividends to those who had in-vested, had to make good his promise to fill the ships with gold. In the province of Cicao on Haiti, where he and his men imagined huge gold fields to exist, they ordered all persons fourteen years or older to collect a certain quantity of gold every three months. When they brought it, they were given copper tokens to hang around their necks. Indians found without a copper token had their hands cut off and bled to death.
The Indians had been given an impossible task. The only gold around was bits of dust garnered from the streams. So they fled, were hunted down with dogs, and were killed. After each six or eight months' work in the mines, which was the time required of each crew to dig enough gold for melting, up to a third of the men died.
While the men were sent many miles away to the mines, the wives remained to work the soil, forced into the excruciating job of digging and making thousands of hills for cassava plants.
Thus husbands and wives were together only once every eight or ten months and when they met they were so exhausted and depressed on both sides... they ceased to pro-create. As for the newly born, they died early because their mothers, overworked and fam-ished, had no milk to nurse them, and for this reason, while I was in Cuba, 7000 children died in three months. Some mothers even drowned their babies from sheer desper-ation.... In this way, husbands died in the mines, wives died at work, and children died from lack of milk ... and in a short time this land which was so great, so powerful and fer-tile... was depopulated... My eyes have seen these acts so foreign to human nature, and now I tremble as I write....
Difficult to know a) whether Simon Jenkins actually believes in anything & b) how often newspapers these days employ some journalists just to provoke the public. Taken at face value, his pieces usually vary from the offensive (Putin-friendly) to the risible (pro-Brexit).
We already knew that Netanyahu was guilty, but this completely confirms it.

Hi Sally. When Weiss published a supposed expose on the death of George Floyd, a veteran criminal justice reporter showed in deep detail that the piece was not just wrong but filled with falsehoods and misrepresentations. Weiss did not retract the piece. What do you think of that?
This is really smart. Amazed at the hysteria over the ascendance of a woman entrepreneur who clearly knows how to cover and sell news and who's not afraid to take on a mob. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

I am no political scientist but I suspect it was not a good idea to wave through the capture of almost the entire modern state by incredibly weird narcissists who aren't a quarter as smart as they seem to think they are.
We're living through the stupidest time in history - vast numbers of people who have the world's accumulated knowledge at their fingertips are incapable of recognising the basics of reality.
Nobody in history has been worse at mathematics than the current President.
Any chance of a mainstream media spotlight on the strong probability that the leader of a major party in the UK is a Russian asset & a direct threat to the UK's long-term stability?

Incredible.

Jack Posobiec references the earliest version of antifa -- the anti-fascists in the Weimar Republic who were opposed to the Nazi Party -- as the bad guys.
JB Pritzker is the kind of person the Dems should nominate in 2028 (if elections actually happen) - white male (which is, sadly, a major plus practically speaking) but also generally decent guy & repeatedly making the right calls in a very challenging situation.
The world's weirdest man introduces sexually explicit chatbots that will be accessed by children - what could possibly go wrong?
