Even when I lived in a rural town and people would look at me and go "you're not from around here are you" I could find a lot more commonality and solidarity with these people than a chronically online trans woman who lives 4,000 miles away who I've developed a toxic parasocial relationship with.

As an alleged elder trans woman who isn't really "in the Community" it's a slow realization that one facet of an identity is insufficient to form a healthy community. Being trans doesn't override everything else that you are no matter how much it seems that way when you're newly out.
