Bootleg of a show at what would have been called Cabaret Metro back in 1986. Includes a few Misfits tracks - Death Comes Ripping, London Dungeon. This is tail-end Samhain on the way to becoming the band Danzig.

Guinness was $5, water was $8. I was in the tent for Shane, right up at the front, but I don’t think I lasted five songs that mosh pit was nuts. I peeled off and watched the rest on a short hill outside.

I did muscle my way into John Lee Hooker for “Boom Boom.”

Tracy Chapman (eponymous) 1988 Electra/Asylum

35th (hmm, actually 37th) anniversary reissue. Check out “Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery”on Amazon Prime. She was 1st ballot, 1st-year lineup. Saw her concurrent in ‘98 @ Guinness Fleadh. Amazing & played the didgeridoo.

Mine is a second pressing of the original ‘86 release, now referred to as Collection I. “Collection II” didn’t arrive until ‘95. I think I picked up this CD my senior year of high school.

This (on cassette) was my introduction to the Misfits in 1988, about the same time I was discovering Naked Raygun. I edited my high school yearbook to LoB. Includes “Who Killed Marilyn?” and “She,” about Patty Hearst.

Misfits “Legacy of Brutality” 1985 Plan 9/Caroline

This is the first post-breakup comp, with lots of songs from the ‘78 “Static Age” sessions (That album of their earliest recordings didn’t get released until the mid-‘90s). You seriously need a sherpa to follow this band.

My wife and I were watching “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” w/our 10yo daughter. The answer was Managua, and before the celebrities could figure it out, I had already dropped the needle on “Throb, Throb.”

There was a little reaction from either considering they think I’m nuts. #FreeShit

Misfits “Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood” 1983 Plan 9/Caroline

Second studio album, last one recorded with Glenn Danzig. Subsequent releases were unreleased recordings. Definitely harder/darker than their debut. You can hear Danzig veering away from the kitschy horror rock.

Misfits “Evilive” 1987 Caroline Records

Danzig, Only & Doyle. Shows were recorded in 1981 in New York and San Francisco, originally released as a seven song EP, then released an ‘87 as a full album. Guest vocals by Henry Rollins on “We Are 138.”

* Mancini was the pianist and arranger for the post-war Glenn Miller Orchestra when it was fronted by Tex Beneke. So I’m guessing he was pretty familiar with the source material. 😂
