I am off the plane. The games followed me. I take multi-domain operations, especially logistical movement, very seriously.

#ManeuverWarfare is finally hitting the streets! If you pre-ordered from @thedietzfoundation.bsky.social, copies are going out as we speak. And now that I’ve got my own official copy, I finally get the @sebastianbae.bsky.social card back that mysteriously wandered off at Modern Day Marine!

I just wish we’d get to a point where people could agree on a “could we just not” subject, but no, looks like we’ll just answer absurdity with absurdity and then wonder why everything’s on fire around us.

I’ve seen more laser-related posts in the last 24 hours on this site than on, well, any other site I traffic ever, so let me offer my 2 cents:

Don’t point lasers at aircraft. Ever. Period. There is no “but.” Don’t fucking do it.

I forgot what it was like to watch a Pats QB sling balls down the field with …skill.

Agree with both. It’s not like the capability doesn’t exist. It’s long established outside the military. Which means the integration curve should be shallower since you’re not trying to make something entirely new while at the same time figuring out how to use it.

YES! And augmented reality goggles have been around for years, yet we are not seeing them in widespread use at MCAGCC or the national training centers. Instead of the Coyote telling you the column is 3k out from your BP, why can’t you see it in your goggles?

Able to do with digital recordings, previously VHS recordings, and previously actual real-life film wound on spools for longer than most of us have been alive.

Live virtual constructive training environments at scale. I’ve spent a good two decades hearing about how great it would be to have immersive training that captures everyone’s movements for detailed AARs the way NFL teams study game film. Two decades and we’re no closer to what the NFL has been

I can’t remember the last time I felt this good about the Patriots. What a statement. #NEPats

Request for #AfghanEvac help.

One of my interpreters is in bureaucratic limbo with his SIV to enter the US. I'm running the traps on that.

Where he needs help: Organizations that fund the execution of leaving the country - medical exams, visas to get his family to Pakistan, etc.

Any ideas?

Been delinquent in sharing this but if you’re going to the @armchairdragoons.bsky.social Fall Assembly this weekend, I’ll see you there and will have #ManeuverWarfare with me!

Reading about the Aleutians campaign in WWII and every other page has a fascinating anecdote. Like the time Army engineers turned a lagoon into an airfield in 24 hours by building a drainage system by hand, with spare parts, in a storm:

That’s an awesome picture.

Weekend #wargaming is rarer these days, but it still gets done. Rebels and Imps face off across the snow-blasted plains of Hoth: #StarWars

My memory is admittedly hazy but I don’t recall that Marines required hands placed on them in basic training to accomplish their missions in Camp Rhino, Nasiryah, al Qaim, Ramadi, Fallujah, Marjah, Camp Bastion, Abbey Gate, and many less well known operations in between. But again, my memory is hazy

Yeah unfortunately there was what would’ve been a short delay at the printing house, which will now be a longer one until the government reopens. But once it reopens the print copies shouldn’t be too far behind.
iantb.bsky.social
Also don’t forget that the digital edition of the “definitive John Boyd” is now available from Marine Corps University Press! Print copies will be available when, well, everything opens up again but until then you still get the ‘trons for free!
