Wait I looked this up and Guns of the South just ends with Lee abolishing slavery anyway? What's going on over there in Turtledove land
You have to be on guard to spot plausible hallucinations but they're sometimes useful for the specific type of fiction I'm writing. Like the AI mistakenly insists that these two guys met - there's no historical record of it but what if they did
It's a back and forth thing, the AI overview and the archival research supports each other. I often need highly specific information that's difficult to extract from an archive - much easier when I can use AI to process a query in natural language
Need the Call of Cthulhu game that's a Depression-era hobo pointcrawl. Seems like low-hanging fruit. Orwell's The Spike and W. H. Davies' Autobiography Of A Super-Tramp both very good sources for this
Very annoying that they somehow can't make a good Hellboy movie
I really don't understand the whole bit where Melbourne and Sydney both have like five hundred different local councils. Who decided this and how did we avoid such a fate
I feel like I don't really understand what liberals are using the word "bigotry" to mean
Great day in the office when they came up with the Money Maker. Like is that even legal to advertise
It's not actually possible to ensure that any institution is truly "democratic" as this concept is too sloppily defined
We'll get one but it'll look like this
I feel like there's an issue with "we need to take power away from ordinary people and concentrate it in the hands of a small group of elites" where you end up turning into Woke Moldbug
Ends up sounding a bit like Thor - sort of Anglo-Saxon. Reminds me of Uncleftish Beholding, the piece where Poul Anderson explains atomic theory using only words with Germanic roots
It's weirdly easy to miss one - like I thought I double checked that paragraph but "have hinted" is a glaring error
"So why say anything at all? For communication, obviously. Though I scrupulously disdain an unhappy symbol, I must still form sounds to proclaim my goals. Synonyms aid Oulipo copiously. Now, gasp your last sigh and pass away!"
Okay I'm just deleting it
"Oulipo's laws prohibit utilisation of a taboo symbol. If I say a word containing it - poof! Might - zilch. But should I cautiously avoid it, I vanquish all."

"eeeeeeeeeeeeee"

"That's it."

"eeeee"

"I'm not going to say it, you know."
Behold, what fools these mortals be -
He's right behind me, isn't he
Sir Ian McKellen as Jason Blood / CGI Etrigan in the next James Gunn Superman movie
I'm disappointed that we never got a follow up or an explanation for this. Someone needs to press him on it
Basically how it works is you pour the code into the top of the computer and it falls down to the bottom through a series of chutes and sieves
I need the most French shopping bag you have... no, that's too French
