I don't get the obsession people have with the idea of a "cap" instead of just an open-ended tax. A carbon tax can achieve any carbon emissions target, just slide the tax rate as needed

Anyway, the honest answer to "who are minimum wage jobs for?" today is "nobody." Essentially nobody makes minimum wage. The jobs people imagine as "minimum wage" actually pay $12-15

All of the justifications given for the minimum wage have to do with protecting workers from exploitation. Children are mentioned *as particularly vulnerable to exploitation.*

The first minimum wage law in the US applied to women and children, so this in a way could be interpreted akin to the "entry jobs for teens." But there's a subtle fallacy here, which is that "who are minimum wage jobs for?" Is a different question than "what is the purpose of the minimum wage?"

I hate it when people say minimum wage jobs are entry level jobs or jobs for teenagers.

That is not what minimum wage was designed to be. It's supposed to be the minimum salary to lead a decent life--not just survival

It's best to tax both. A consumption tax is more efficient (raises more revenue for the same amount of burden), and that's only "regressive" if you spend the money on the rich instead of on the poor

The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper.

As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.

The official government account for DHS appears to be run by far-right trolls deliberately trying to provoke a response by using a term openly associated with ethnic cleansing. They will attack anyone who points this out and express faux outrage at the suggestion. They know what they are doing.

so white pigment is used as a base in almost all other colors. This was why "lead paint" was such a big thing, all paint is made by adding a pigment to a white paint. Cadmium usually makes yellows, oranges, reds, which again can be mixed with other pigments to make other colors
