Summary: Seungcheol is perfectly content as the second prince of Joseon, happy to let his older brother shoulder the burden of being Crown Prince. Then he meets Lady Yoon: mysterious, lively, beautiful—and one of the candidates for Crown Princess.

From the gate, there was the sound of raised voices. Seungcheol glanced back, frowning, and saw a twelfth woman stepping into the courtyard. She was alone, and she seemed nervous from how tightly she was clutching her jang-ot. She looked around, spotted him looking, and hurried over.

As she drew closer, Seungcheol noticed that she was tall for a woman, with a self-assured loping stride unlike the small, graceful steps of most women he knew in the palace. She stopped a few feet from him and said, "Excuse me, sir?"

Her voice was strange, sweet but with an almost teasing quality to her speech. Seungcheol found himself taking a step closer, then another, curious to see more of her than her long, knobbly fingers. "Yes, miss? What is it?"

She tilted her head back slightly to look at him and he caught a glimpse of large, petal-shaped eyes, slightly narrowed. Her mouth turned up into a half-smile. "I'm supposed to be here for Crown Princess selection, but I'm afraid I might have arrived late. Do you know where I'm meant to go?"

He did, but a guard of the station he was pretending to be wouldn't. But he didn't want her to go just yet; he was intrigued by this woman who had arrived late, unaccompanied, and yet if anything seemed amused by the situation.

I’ve been out of the country for the last few weeks and haven’t been able to watch which is terrible but does also mean I have like three straight hours of Khemjira to look forward to, watching it in real time has been agonizing 😭
