A new personal holiday-cutting off the loom day!
I can't escape this project! My breakfast placemat:
I am so excited to be at the most unique campus I have ever visited @UniversityofLuxembourg Belval for the Society for the History of Technology Meeting!
Woohoo! Excited to learn more about all the corn I seem to forever be driving thru! (and Brazil, which I aspire to visit as well!)
It's the official publication day for ETHANOL: A HEMISPHERIC HISTORY FOR THE FUTURE OF BIOFUELS. Want to know why the US turns 40 percent of the corn crop into fuel? How the US and Brazil became the world's two largest ethanol producers? Tom Rogers and I have answers.

The proliferation of middle school boys on e-bikes and one-wheels crusing too fast with fishing poles adds to the apocalyptic vibes as of late.
when you put it that way...!
Summer finally feels over. I was too busy to post my "Eavesdropping on Rural America" series, but reading through my notes the best one was one of the first, way back on June 3, overheard in Highland, IL.

Maria Montessori is knowingly smiling down on all those notebooks. ✏️📓🫶

Summer 2025 Family Political Phenology Observation: The summer the MAGA relations openly accepted climate change is real and dangerous.
I agree 100%. Americans need to demand more...general decency? We were once proud of our pseudo public bathrooms and AC...which are starting to disappearor are going downhill quickly...atleast in the midwest 🫤
While the top 1% of academic salaries live and love all the bougie bougie...🙄
May I humbly recommend a good ole fashion felt board interpretive talk?
This would be an easy sell to the Landman writers room...

IMO there is too much emphasis on answering questions, and not asking them in K-12 education.
I can think of about 101 worse ways to spend 2.4m. I'm excited to see how this goes-could be a powerful idea in rural communities too.
Agreed, great bus transport is common in so many other places. I think the "greatest gen" accepted buses as they aged out of long distance drives, and I'm curious to see if boomers
will follow suit. The memory of picking up my great aunt-high as a kite- at a Greyhound stop makes me laugh.
Glad you found a supportive public...dealing with the opposite here. 🥵
I think this disgusting rhetoric is yet another strategy to defund public education. As more families with neurodivergent kids are opting out/homeschooling-which the right wants -instead of facing the fact that all kids deserve an IEP, and public ed needs more 💵 to step up their game and provide it.
