WIP PR, tho it's live: github.com/hzoo/henry.i..., renders lists (a trail) and elements (a mark).

to have a way to add to a trail, i'd need content - either rendering a feed or arena itself. meanwhile added a bookmarklet to add the current url to a list in a popup

difficult thing that i see is that the easiest way to add something is to use a bookmarklet/ext, having to copy paste a url is annoying (esp with metadata), but maybe people are ok with it

(easy to bookmark on twitter and now bsky, same within arena itself), i want that across any atproto app

ay! working on it with henry.ink, i think i'd rather just reimplement a UI from scratch since it's not the current version of the site anyway? arena.henryzoo.com was a fun start (just showing channels from the url)

diff UI for arena data is interesting, but creating the lexicon + community is hard

was doing something similar! tried out a similar structure to arena, a container (trail) and an element (mark) henry.ink/profile/henr...

interesting to me is an easier way to add things based on url, i.e bookmark, so wouldn't need to paste things as much, ideally each atproto app would support

oh yea I was just trying to get like the stars or primary language like they display on GitHub but it seems it’s all using htmx and I didn’t find the apis for the app view if that’s even open so only have what’s in the record/pds

there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to render other people’s lexicons either, like I tried tangled but didn’t understand how I could render the metadata since couldn’t find an api call for it (a repo) but maybe just not familiar

Once again thinking about AT Collections. We need a primitive that can organize _any_ record in anybodies PDS.

There ought to be a way to do shared collections, but the protocol isn't amenable to that, so personal is fine.
But it must mix any type of content: profiles, scrobbles, anisota items

tldr these are the primitives i’m personally warm to. the first one probably can’t take off in userland if the app doesn’t embrace it. but maybe some other atproto app will? or maybe bluesky will do something like this? i’m not sure!

i just think there should be two user facing things.

one is something between pinterest Boards, reddit Subreddits, and twitter Communities. it’s basically just Lists of posts. i call it Collections in my head.

the other is kinda like feeds, you know, whatever Discover is. i’d probably just use one

embedding not just posts but any atproto lexicon seems special vs just any list of urls (whether arena or elsewhere), I see for the structured data? reminding me of semantic web: whether it's events, leaflet, status, book, arena link itself, etc

Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

seems like a conflict between the freedom of any user to delete anything in their PDS and caching it because of references? So if I link to a site, and someone saves my "link" of it rather than the site, then that info is lost if i delete my post. That user wants to know the site + that I linked it

wondering with @fjpaz.net about the backup/cache of data that isn't yours? if you quote post someone and the original is deleted, you might not remember why you quoted it, same with a like, or any future lexicon? or am I just confused about this

yea! started building out an atproto arena-like right now as an experiment, and thinking about how to render other lexicons too, and henry.ink was already showing quotes/annotations from .app.bsky.feed.post

(my idea was to verify on the other side through some convention, so for arena it could be like making a specific named block or channel etc, and then on the atproto side link to it)
