The man grins at me as he approached, gesturing at the straight white rows of his exposed teeth. They glint in the flickering candlelight. “You don’t have to wear that here if you don’t want to.” When I don’t reply, he clarifies. “Your mask.”

I do not need his reminder. The leather straps sit flush with my skin. Cold metal sits at the base of my skull. I am constantly aware of its presence across the bridge of my nose, against the underside of my jaw.

He holds out his hand. “Wei Ying.”

“Lan Zhan,” I answer, though the answer is redundant. Except for my brother and his partner, Meng Yao, there’s no one else here.

“Nice to meet you, Lan Zhan.” After an awkward two or three seconds, he retracts his hand. “Your brother is pleased you’ve decided to come.”

I say nothing in response. What is there left to say? Our arguments—rare until Meng Yao’s arrival in his life—still ring in my ears, but they have led us nowhere, and so we have stopped arguing. My brother has made his choice. It’s not the choice I would have made for him, and our mother’s heart would break if she were still alive to see this moment. My uncle has stopped speaking to him for it.

Yet, I am here. No matter how revolting I might find it, I am here.

Shout-out to my discord friends for inspiring one of my fave headcanons: LWJ's dick is so big because he's trans and has enlarged his tdick with cultivation. He studied the diagrams and techniques, but has no reference for a normal size so he just keeps making it bigger.
